If you've just returned from a tour we'd love to hear from you.
Vietnam & Cambodia Tour
With apologies for the length of time it has taken me to contact you I would just like to put on record my appreciation for the work done by the Tour Manager Michele Cook during my recent holiday in Vietnam/Cambodia.
Throughout the whole trip Michele worked very hard to ensure that everything went smoothly and that everyone’s needs were met. She made herself readily available to members of our group, and her local knowledge and her willingness to share this added greatly to our experience.
I was particularly grateful to her for the help and support she gave me after an incident in Phom Phen. Michele assisted me in contacting family to cancel cards etc and accompanied me to report the matter to the police even though it was late at night. I very much appreciated her kindness and consideration at what was a rather stressful time.
Many thanks to Michele for all of this.
This is the first time I have travelled with Riviera but I would certainly do so again and would have no hesitation in recommending your company to others.

Hi there I have just returned from a tour - Vietnam/Cambodia, and I just would like to say what a terrific time my friend and I had and speaking with the other holiday makers - they felt the same. Michelle, the tour manager was absolutely amazing and made the whole
trip run so smoothly. She was totally professional and sociable and there was nothing I could fault about her or the whole trip.

We’ve just returned from our 4th Riviera trip and as usual we have nothing but glowing praise once again. Vietnam airlines were excellent - new Boeings and attentive but not intrusive cabin crew - As for the whole trip it was breathtaking and our excellent guide Marella - who delivered the right information at the right time - a truly amazing adventure - this is a full immersion into these 2 amazing SE Asian countries - lots to see and do with 5 different hotels and 7 flights in 16 days - the cuisine is fantastic, the hotels very well chosen - the people are gentle humble and hard working - too many highlights to list them all - we loved the rickshaw ride thru Hanoi - citadels and palaces and temples are stunning - we went in May and it was hot and humid so pack accordingly - Amazing flora and countryside - all local guides Nancy, Simon, Sam, Kwa and Pit knew their stuff and imparted local colour to the destinations
Well done Riviera - we will return soon.
Top tip - visit the sky bar at the Imperial Hotel Hue at sunset - amazing view overlooking the Perfume river.
Great value restaurants - we struggled to spend €20 a head for 3 course meals with quality wine.
Recommend you take US dollars in single and 5 dollar bills for tips
Please tip well - these wonderful people deserve it.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday to Vietnam & Cambodia 5th to 20th April mainly due to the wonderful and professional guide that you sent with us “lorenza” your Italian guide.
We were a very diverse group & Lorenza handled all situations (some very awkward) in a very professional & friendly manner resulting in a most memorable trip.
Riviera is lucky to have such a patient & knowledgeable guide and we look forward to travelling with you again in the near future.
Thanking you once again,

We have just returned from the Vietnam Cambodia tour and would like to thank our tour manager Alex for making this a great holiday. Everything went without a hitch and Alex gave us all the information we needed and was always on hand. The standard of all the hotels and restaurants used were 1st class. Our first tour with Riviera but won’t be our last. Hoping to do the Burma one at some point, hopefully Alex will be on that too.

My partner Lynne (Breadon) and I would like to personally thank your tour guide Bev Lewis for making the holiday a superb experience. Bev was always on hand and gave 110% effort to ensure that the holiday went smoothly and everyone had a fantastic time.

This was our third tour, but first long haul holiday with Riviera. I give Deborah our tour manager full marks for ensuring our special requests were met in each of the hotels we stayed in. It was hotter in Cambodia than expected but this did not stop us from finding the temples of Angkor Wat absolutely stunning. Even more remarkable than the brochure images.

My mother and I have just returned from an amazing tour with Riviera Travel, our third trip with the company.
The tour was jam packed with visits, giving us a rich variety of ancient temples, beautiful scenery and delicious food.
Our guide, Marella, was absolutely fantastic organising 39 of us daily with great efficiency, a wealth of knowledge and a well needed sense of humour! My mother has walking problems and Marella was always thinking ahead to advise us and enable my mother to see as much as possible on the tour which was massively appreciated by us both.
To anyone not sure about booking, I would wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful tour. Thank you Riviera and to Marella in particular.

Her passion and enthusiasm for ensuring all the guests had the best experience for them, clearly shone through. She was very exceptionally knowledgable and her recommendations were spot on. Thank-you Michele Our local guides were all fabulous too and certainly helped us get the most out of our trip.
Busily planning our next adventure now…..

I should have written it earlier but as soon as arrived I had a very bad viral infection which I picked it from my husband & Deborah (tour manager) knows what I am talking about. I just want to say it was an excellent tour with an excellent tour manager. She was so pleasant, so professional, amiable, very enthusiastic, excellent organiser, extremely thoughtful, highly knowledgable and she was devoted herself to her group to make them feel happy and enjoy their time as much as she can even when she was unwell. We enjoyed the tour & it was a Good opportunity to explore these countries. This is my third trip with Riviera because they are quite organised. I have to admit that Deborah was the best tour manager among my 3 trips with you. Thank you & looking for the next tour.

Thank you to everyone for an amazing trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.
This is my third trip with Riviera and they have all surpassed my expectations - well done!
A few observations - firstly that the trip to Tonle Sap and the floating village was an optional extra and not on the fixed itinerary I found curious
- secondly the cookery course at the Champey cookery school on the final day was really good and I was surprised to be the only taker from the Riviera group - maybe a bit more notice should be given that it is available
- thirdly Bev is an excellent Tour Manager
- organised, invariably cheerful and is prepared to think outside the box to give the Riviera travellers the best experience she possibly can
All in all a wonderful trip - a big thank you to everyone. I look forward to perusing your catalogue and deciding on my next adventure!

An excellent tour led by an excellent tour manager, Marthese. She brought superb organisation and efficiency to the whole enterprise, with good humour and patience. We saw interesting places on a well-constructed tour which featured many varied experiences and visits. We appreciated the free time that was made available also. Hotels were of a really high standard and most of the local guides provided excellent commentaries.

We very much enjoyed our tour to Vietnam and Cambodia. The itinerary for us had the right balance of travelling, visits and free time.
It was particularly well organised by the Tour Manager, Pauline Ryley. All arrangements hotels, flights, coaches and visits went very smoothly. Local guides were very good.
While the pace was about right, it might be worth offering an extension of a few days at the end to relax before coming home.
This was the largest tour group we have been in, and although it worked well we would prefer a slightly smaller group size.

We have just returned and would like to let you know how fascinating we found this trip. Both Vietnam and Cambodia have been war-torn but it was moving to see their determination to progress. We found the people kind and eager to help us enjoy our holiday. The local guides were very knowledgeable and happy to share their country with us. The trip was impeccably organized (as usual) and we would particularly like to praise Pauline, our tour guide for her highly efficient shepherding of our large group and her sense of gentle humour. Thank you for a lovely holiday and we are already looking at the brochure for next year. See you soon!

This was our second trip with Riviera and we were just as impressed with the whole experience as the first time. We are planning to go to Peru with them next year. The itinerary was brilliant - packed with wonderful activities every day. The hotels were top class. Riviera even arranged for a cake on my birthday. Our Riviera rep - Marthese was very efficient and looked after us really well. She was great fun but always made sure everything ran like clockwork. We made some great friends on the trip. We’ve only been back a few hours and I am missing the group already. Everyone should try the Riviera experience. It is second to none. Thank you for yet another fantastic adventure.

We have just arrived home after a wonderful trip. Maritese was an excellent tour guide, was always there to prevent any potential problems, even before there was a problem! A great skill. All the local guides were honest, open and friendly and knew their area very well. The tour was all it said and so much more. Although hectic on some days there was plenty of free time, a good balanced holiday. Thank you to everyone involved from start to finish and the other people we were with for making it a trip to remember.

Have just returned from our wonderful trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.
A varied programme allowed us to get a real insight into these wonderful countries. Harrowing at times but thought provoking and humbling.
The local guides had a wealth of knowledge, great sense of humour, pride in their countries and a remarkable honesty when answering some quite challenging questions.
We were fortunate to share this trip with a delightful group of fellow travellers.
Our Riviera representative, Deborah was exceptionally kind and caring. This was my second Riviera holiday. Would definitely recommend.

Superb trip to Vietnam/Cambodia. A real eye-opener. Whole trip well managed giving us a real flavour of the two countries. Tour guide, Alex, excellent. Even organised a cake for my birthday on the boat at Halong Bay.
The very tasty organised lunches gave us some insight into local cuisine, in addition to what we arranged for ourselves.
The local guides were also excellent with their knowledge of the structures etc that we were looking at, but as well gave us a description of the tremendous difficulties the locals have had to endure.
Seat rotation worked well. Hotels all good.
Happy to recommend the holiday.

This was my 5th Riviera holiday and first long haul tour. I’m already planning the next one.
The tour organisation was superb and made perfect by Bev’s fun approach and extensive local knowledge. Friends who have lived in Vietnam for many years were amazed how much information we had and how much ground we had covered.
Fabulous tour, thanks again Bev and Riviera.

This was our second long-haul trip with Riviera, and we enjoyed both.

A good trip with a thoughtful and varied schedule, paced just right, in my mind.
Travelling during Tet added to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of these two countries, with the bonus of reduced city traffic. Although, I still learnt a lot about crossing roads amidst a sea of mopeds!
Thanks to the adept tour manager who shared his knowledge and experiences of the area freely and was professionally intuitive to the group and individual needs. Sense of humour a great asset!
Overall a great experience and introduction to two beautiful countries and at times, their harrowing histories.
Time to plan my next trip!

I don`t often write reviews but have just returned from my first holiday with Riviera and felt compelled to share what a fantastic trip this is. Packed with brilliant trips supported by local guides who provide lots of information and history which over the whole trip builds a complete picture of the countries visited. Bev, our Tour Guide, was amazing and was the glue that held it all together looking after us all (we were a large group of 39). I really don`t know how she does it all so seamlessly, ensuring that we all receive first class treatment and that we all get checked in and out and luggage and transfers go smoothly. She is a lovely bubbly person and very approachable. Thank you Riviera, Bev and all the guides for a fantastic holiday.

This was our 2nd trip with Riviera but first long haul, after experiencing this holiday it will not be our last. From our flight from Heathrow until our return to Heathrow, everything ran like clockwork, and this was all thanks to our incredible tour manager Bev.
The highlight for us was our trip to Angkor Wat, and this was more enjoyable because of Bevs’ knowledge to go in the east gate, avoiding the crowds at the west gate. Then returning later in the evening to see Ta Promh in the dusk and enjoying an amazing sunset. This trip was also to celebrate my 60th birthday which happened the day we were on The Mekong, I was made to feel very special by Bev and the rest of my excellent travelling companions. I also received 3 birthday cakes at 3 different hotels ..amazing. Thanks again to our amazing tour manager Bev,

This was our third long-haul Riviera trip and was everything we could have wished for. With excellent hotels, a varied, fascinating mixture of visits and experiences and a friendly, fun group, what more could you want? There was a good balance between organised visits and free time allowing us to experience theatre, shopping, restaurants, night life - and the fantastic Jazz Club, Saigon.
As with all our Riviera tours the standard of the Tour Manager was superb. Bev was upbeat, knowledgeable and incredibly hardworking. She was always happy to offer advice, gave clear guidance as to arrangements and ensured flights, coaches, minibuses, river and lake boat trips went like clockwork. Bev was there as we checked in at Heathrow and was the last to leave having checked everyone had got their luggage and headed off to their connections when we returned.
Bev ensured we arrived at the stunning Angkor Wat at 7am and ‘did it backwards’ so that we were virtually on our own for the first hour. A superb lunch and swim back at the hotel then off to the extraordinary, atmospheric Ta Promh as dusk approached. Arriving at the end of the day we had the place to ourselves as we explored this wonderful, derelict temple.
Almost everything was a highlight from the smiling, welcoming people to the fabulous trip to Tonle Sap floating villages. From mausoleums, temples, palaces and museums to learning more of the terrifying history of the Khmer Rouge and the ‘American’ war. Excellent local guides provided us with fascinating insights and in depth knowledge. In Siem Reap visit the Artisan workshops where local, disadvantaged young people are trained to produce exquisite high quality items for sale. Look through the itinerary, checkout the hotels and you will see what fabulous value this tour really is.

My Friend and I have just returned from the Vietnam & Cambodia tour. It had to be the best holiday I have ever had, well organised, and packed with things to see and do, I could not recommend this holiday enough (although I would like to keep it secret, so it does not get spoilt) every single hotel was spot on, the services and local knowledge of our tour guide was excellent, we felt that there was so much packed into the trip we had been away for months. We will most definitely be travelling again with Riviera if all your holidays are like this one. Thanks again. Travelled on 09/03/2012

I am writing this review whilst relaxing at the Royal Ankor Resort in Siem Reap, at the end of a really fantastic two weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia. The hotels have been great and the Riviera representative, really friendly and helpful. The local guides have always been excellent and the itinerary a good mix of sightseeing and relaxation. My review is for three holidays my wife and I have had with Riviera over the past three years. The first was Cambodia and Vietnam (May 2010), the second, India (Feb 2011), and then The Golden West of California (Oct 2012). All three trips were an absolute joy in every way - very well organised, highly informed Tour Managers, wonderful local guides and all very likeable. The mileage we covered in the allocated times was remarkable, the sites we visited were very well thought out, all in all good value for money. Riviera is the only holiday company we have travelled three times with, each trip so successful that we now give them first consideration for our next holidays. In April we are off to Myanmar. Thank you Riviera for wonderful tours.

We have just returned from a great tour of Vietnam and Cambodia with Pauline Riley being our Riviera guide, she was lovely, very efficient and informative and nothing was too much trouble. A very busy tour, which showed us a lot, but with most afternoons free for free time, also two days at the end of tour free to relax or to do more if you want to. All hotels were very nice, as were the staff who were very accommodating. All the local guides were very good also. We haven’t been with Riviera travel before, but would definitely go with them again in the future. Thank you for a very memorable holiday.

This was our first tour and we have to say the tour guide Martez was absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she made sure everything ran smoothly. The local tour guides were extremely informative and the days were mixed up well with time to yourself for some relaxation which was well needed. We visited some truly beautiful places and had fun doing so. We would definitely recommend Riviera to our friends and are already looking at which tour to opt for next. Thank you Riviera and thank you Martez.

Having recently returned from your Vietnam & Cambodia Tour, I would like to say how enjoyable it was. It was so nice to be able to relax and enjoy oneself with out the stress of organisation - Riviera took care of all of that with their usual expertise. I personally find that a good tour manager is essential on these type of trips, and once again Riviera came up trumps with a pleasant and helpful lady by the name of Deborah who had everything under control. I cannot finish without saying that all of the local guides were informative and entertaining. A good trip was had by all.

This was my first time with Riviera and was a fantastic holiday that exceeded my high expectations. Our tour leader, Deborah, was the most professional, efficient and friendly tour organiser I have ever come across and added substantially to my holiday enjoyment. The hotels were of the highest luxury standard with attentive staff, large comfortable rooms and all-important air conditioning! The included excursions were all excellent and the local guides were all well informed and keen to share their knowledge. Thank you for a most enjoyable holiday.

This was our first holiday with Riviera, but it certainly won’t be our last! We have totally fallen in love with Vietnam & Cambodia. Our tour guide Bob was friendly and helpful without being overbearing, our local guides were charming and extremely passionate about the history of their countries. There were 37 in our group and we all got on well and had many laughs along the way.We would certainly recommend this tour, it was amazing!! On our last day in Cambodia we took a group photo which we have somehow managed to lose, so if anyone from our group is reading this please could you contact Riviera and give them a copy to send on to us. Thanks in anticipation!
Review by Derek & Alison Williams on 3 June 2013
This was our first organised tour holiday and we used Riviera on the basis of a recommendation by our neighbours (tough customers to please!). From the moment we arrived and met Bob our guide, through to the moment we shouted cheerio to everyone in the baggage hall back in Gatwick we were comfortable that the tour was well organised, well thought out and ‘in control’. The 5 different local guides were all deeply knowledgeable, helpful and a pleasure to listen to. The hotels, transport arrangements and local knowledge were superb. Bob was particularly good at providing the ‘extra info’ around the local eateries, things to do out with the main tour itself in the 5 different bases. Everyone in the party seemed to interchange, chat and spend time together naturally and socialise well, which made for an easy going and relaxed atmosphere. Vietnam - a weird mix of progress, culture and religion whilst recovering well from some challenging times. Cambodia - a model for ‘human spirit’ in their recovery from their tragic recent history, amazing temples and scenery, but above all super friendly to tourists without being ‘touristy’. We’re already looking at our next booking with Riviera… need I say more?
Review by Lorne & Kate Clark on 3 July 2013
We traveled with Riviera to Vietnam and Cambodia in June and it was wonderful. Our tour guide Bob, the local guides, hotels, trips and food were FAB. The coach party all got on well. It was a very good trip for the money. Thank you Riviera.

We can only reiterate the views above. This was the first time we had travelled with Riviera but it was the most amazing holiday. We initially thought it would be a tiring holiday but the well planned itinerary meant there was ample relaxation time. All the tour guides all very courteous and knowledgeable and the hotels excellent. We could thoroughly recommend the Vietnam/Cambodia tour and would happily book again. If you’re looking for something different and an adventure, do to. The Vietnamese and Cambodian people are lovely and we could thoroughly recommend the option trip to the floating village. This really was a wonderful holiday.
Review by Jackie Tookey on 7 August 2013
Having just returned from the above tour we write to congratulate Riviera on providing us with a memorable holiday. The Tour Director (Antonia Scetto) was excellent, highly efficient, and knowledgeable. The hotels were of a very high standard and our stays in them were enjoyable, even the hotel which had a problem with music / noise until the early hours, and we were impressed that the hotel in question offered a gift, unsolicited, as a token of good faith. The tour was well organised with a perfect balance of planned activities / visits and free time to explore the localities. Not being importuned to purchase additional activities / excursions was a noticeable bonus. Having done other tours, so to speak, we were particularly impressed with the tour as value for money. We will look to use Riviera on a future occasion, and will recommend the Vietnam / Cambodian tour to friends and interested parties.

We have just returned from an escorted tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. I would like to express my thanks to Pauline Ryley who was absolutely superb in the way she lead the tour. Her friendly and efficient approach was very much appreciated and she is an absolute credit to your company. I would contact her myself but unfortunately no longer have her mobile number. Please could you pass on our thanks to her.

We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Our guide Pauline Ryley was terrific- hugely sympathetic and fun and excellent in a crisis when one of our group broke her ankle. She had a real feel for both countries and had established excellent relationships with our local guides all 5 of whom were inspirational. All the hotels were very good with lovely food and service. Our only criticism is the time spent in airports but obviously there is little Riviera can do about that. We were pleased that Pauline managed to arrange a trip to the Killing Fields by coach as the majority of the group were keen to go and the additional countryside trip on the last day was a definite highlight. We will heartily recommend this trip to friends. Thank you.
Review by Anita Sollis on 16 August 2013
This is our second trip with Riviera and this tour was just as good as the first. The tour manager Pauline was excellent, as were most of the local guides. The hotels were very luxurious and i could have easily passed the time in the hotels alone. Both countries are beautiful and the people very sincere and i would happily recommend to anyone to experience both countries with Riviera.
Review by Breigin Lagan on 21 September 2013
I am the member of the party who broke her ankle and now I would like to thank all those who helped me and were so sympathetic when it happened. First of all our Tour Guide, Pauline Ryley, who was so excellent throughout the tour and so supportive after my little ‘trip’; the local guide who appeared on a motorcycle to take me back to the coach; members of our very friendly group; the Staff of the Angkor Miracle Resort, who could not have been more helpful and finally the hospital staff. I am now driving again after being taxied by Roger for 2 weeks and am back at school full time. I would recommend this tour to anyone. It was more of an experience than a holiday and thoroughly enjoyable. The hotels were excellent and the local guides knowledgeable and helpful. Once again my thanks to everyone, Lynn Dicken

Thank you, thank you, thank you Riviera…...what a wonderful experience from the vibrancy and colour of Hanoi City to the affluent contrasts within Ho Chi Minh we were shown and tasted, experienced it all with our stalwart tour guide Maggie; who needed to never find solutions as she had always anticipated and dealt with every possible option. In Cambodia the contrast of the nations were apparent a whole new language to learn, the most honest and accommodating people you could wish to meet, and the sites breathtaking. We were lucky beyond belief with the weather as typhoon Narli hot on our tail and gone before us but we were able to visit Angkor Wat the flooding having abated. If you have the opportunity do take up the option to visit the Floating Village on Tonle Sap Lake, our whole tour opted for it and it was the fitting ending to our visit. All individual local guides were phenomenal, and their English impeccable. Our 38 strong tour were the best thank you to each and everyone of you, you know who you are. We may have been millionaires for a brief time in Vietnam but we left Cambodia all the more enriched. Finally to Maggie who we did not have the opportunity to say goodbye to at Siem Reap because she was busy helping one of our number with a situation at home; you made it happen for us Maggie so thank you once again.

I have just returned from my holiday In Vietnam and Cambodia. It was marvelous in every way. A wonderful trip. Thank you Riviera.

As first time Riviera travellers we approached the holiday with some trepidation but this proved unfounded as soon as we arrived. The itinerary was well chosen and full of interest and the hotels chosen were absolutely excellent. We were fortunate to have a great bunch of fellow travellers who mixed well but above all holding it together was your party leader, Deborah. She was always above and beyond the call of duty and, even when succumbing to the ubiquitous dry cough during the latter part of the tour, she kept up her good spirits and always looked after us. My husband, who has trouble walking, would like to express a particular thank you to Deborah as between them they cooked up slightly less hazardous walks of the sites so that he enjoyed the flavour without the difficulties. We cannot praise her enough. We shall certainly be looking at Riviera in the future for our vacations even though they may be less adventurous.

My wife and I travelled on the tour to Vietnam & Cambodia and I write to complement you on the quality of the arrangements. We were a relatively large party of 30 plus and the organisation of the tour including flights, hotels and excursions was excellent. The itinerary was well chosen (if sometimes exhausting!) and we enjoyed a feast of temples, palaces and beautiful countryside whilst being made so welcome by the lovely residents of both countries.
In particular, we cannot praise too highly our tour guide, Antonia, who was with us for the whole duration of the tour and was so informative and efficient as well as being delightful company. Please convey our appreciation and thanks to her for making the holiday such an enjoyable experience.
Well done Riviera! This was our first experience of travelling with your company (and we travel a lot) and we we would have no hesitation in recommending you to our friends.

This, our third trip with Riviera, was a truly exciting and stimulating holiday. Although hardly a restful experience as we were constantly on the move (which obviously had to be the case if we were to enjoy such a wide-ranging itinerary) it provided a comprehensive and wonderful insight into so many aspects of these two fascinating and beautiful countries. The travel organisation, the hotels and every aspect of the trip were absolutely first class and we cannot praise our guide, Pauline, too highly. She was helpful and always there for us and enhanced the experience with her advice, knowledge and great sense of humour. We would also like to say how much we appreciated the local guides who were inspirational. We have so many wonderful memories of an amazing holiday. Thank you Riviera.
Review by Mike and Judy Gorton on 22 November 2013
This was our first Riviera holiday and it was absolutely brilliant, everything was expertly organized from the rickshaw ride on day one, the included lunches trying the local dishes, the local guides & their expert knowledge, the flights lots of them not one of them was delayed and the hotels. The Melia in a very good location for the Hanoi Hilton, restaurants & the lake. The Imperial at Hue with it’s roof top bar and river views just a couple of streets away from the ‘tourist’ centre. The Equatorial in Saigon although a very nice hotel isn’t in the best of locations a 20 minute taxi ride from the market & downtown Saigon so we had to eat in the hotel. The best hotels were probably in Cambodia, more of a holiday feel with beautiful pools where you do not find that many Europeans. The Himawari at Phomn Penh with it’s own Brewery, very good beer and the Angkor Miracle resort evening meals in the restaurant very good but their idea of a Western breakfast included a Carbonara.
We were a group of 39 but we never felt it was to large, you always had someone to share cocktails with in the bar or go out for a meal with and we were expertly escorted around by our Riviera guide Marella who also had a typhoon to deal with as well as us so unfortunately we didn’t make it to Halong Bay.

We have just returned from a wonderful two weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was really impressive how much we were able to see in a relatively short space of time. The organisation was seamless with high quality hotels throughout the trip. A lot of credit must go to our wonderful guide Antonia who was knowledgeable, helpful and supportive and who went the extra mile in providing guidance on where to eat etc. We were also impressed by the various local guides who made a major contribution to our understanding of the countries and their history. We would particularly like to thank Antonio for organising a surprise Wedding Anniversary cake at an hours notice.

We have recently returned from our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. We usually holiday independently and were apprehensive about the tour. Our worries were unfounded as we had a really memorable holiday. There was a good balance of excursions with the group and time to do our own thing which suited us perfectly. Our fellow travellers were great company, the local guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about their particular location and we cannot praise our tour guide Deborah enough. She worked tirelessly to ensure all arrangements worked like clockwork. We are already planning our next Riviera Tour! Many thanks.

Our Riviera guide Bob did an excellent job of hosting us in Saigon and in Siem Reap, pointing us to local markets, restaurants etc. Would recommend the trip to friends and will certainly consider Riviera again for future trips

I have just spent the most amazing 2 weeks on the Vietnam & Cambodia Tour. A very well thought out tour visiting these fascinating countries using excellent hotels and tour guides. A fast pace with lots of early starts meant we saw as much as possible and were able to experience the history and day to day life of those living in these countries. The tour guide Antonia was exceptional. She was knowledgeable, thoughtful, ensured that everything went without a hitch and went the extra mile to make sure that we all had the holiday of a life time. I haven’t used Riviera before but have already booked another holiday and looking at others. Members of our group had used Riviera many times and recommended other holidays. I feel confident to book tours to other countries such as India using Riviera based on comments made by others. Well done Riviera!

A wonderful holiday experience enhanced by the exceptional services of our tour rep Michele Cook particularly when faced with having to deal with ‘group visa issues’. Throughout the tour there was a very good balance of excursions out and free time, the excursions of which were led by extremely knowledgeable local guides. Hotel accommodation throughout the trip was first class as was the service we encountered on the river boat headed by Matthias and his team. If there was a criticism to make we believe a more direct route to Cambodia could have been chosen rather than travelling from Heathrow to Bangkok, with 2 further onward journey’s to Saigon and Siem Reap, but having said that we would have no hesitation in recommending this fantastic journey.

Like a number of previous contributors, this was our first escorted tour holiday so it was approached with some apprehension. We need not have worried as we have had the most fantastic holiday. From the itinerary one can see that it is a pretty full on tour but you get to see and learn so much about the history, culture and life of the Vietnamese and Cambodian people it s well worth the early morning starts and hectic days. The hotels in both countries were excellent, with good food and superb service. Our fellow travelers (all 35 of them!) were a great bunch and everyone got on really well. The local guides who joined us in Hanoi, Saigon and Siem Reap were really good, giving loads of information that gave one a real insight into the places we were visiting. Some quite emotional when we visited the Killing Fields. Our guide throughout the tour was Deborah who was an absolute star. She was informative, helpful, funny and a brilliant organiser and without a doubt she helped make the tour such an enjoyable experience. A statement I know that would be echoed by our fellow travelers. Two trips that Deborah did organise, outside of the formal itinerary, were to the Killing Fields and also a trip our last day to the floating village. Would recommend both. The first gives you a further insight into the turbulent history of Cambodia and the second into the culture and lifestyle of some of the Cambodian people. Since we returned we haven’t stopped talking about the tour (or boring our friends with it!) and would certainly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Riviera

This is the first time that I have been on an organised tour and I have never used Riviera Travel before so was unsure what to expect. Well, I had the most AMAZING time. I cannot recommend this company more highly. The tour guide, Antonia, that stayed with us throughout our trip was delightful. Nothing was too much trouble. She was friendly, helpful, knowledageble, amusing, always going that extra mile to make sure we were all having a great time. We had local guides as well that met us on each part of the tour. They were able to give us a real insight into the countries and places we were visiting. On one occasion reducing us to tears! As to the tour I can not recommend it more highly. It was fast paced. I feel we covered so much. The organisation was fantastic. No hitches at all. The days also allowed time for us to explore independently if we so wished. I cannot praise the tour, company and guide more highly. I am so enthused that I have already booked another tour with this company and am looking to do another in the future. Well done all at Riviera, behind the scenes as well as the planning that went into this tour was exceptional!

We recently returned from a Riviera tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Although we have previously done many European trips with Riviera, this was our first ‘long haul’ tour and we were very impressed with the itinerary, organisation and accommodation.
In particular, we should like to praise our delightful Tour Manager on the trip, ANTONIA SCETTA, who was quite exceptional in her personality, professionalism and knowledge of the area. Antonia managed a very large party of 39 with great charm, thoughtfulness and good humour. Her experience of travelling in the area enabled her to guide us calmly through all the changes of venues and flights. She was always well informed about all of the places visited and excursions and ever watchful of the needs of her clients. Antonia was liked and respected by everyone on the trip.

I have travelled with Riviera only once before, to Croatia and Montenegro and thoroughly enjoyed that trip. The one to Vietnam and Cambodia was of the same high standard, the hotels were very good, the travel arrangements ran perfectly, the guides were informative, the restaurants selected for lunches were excellent, the people we met in both Vietnam and Cambodia were friendly and helpful and, all in all, this was a most enjoyable trip also.
The tour would probably not be ideal for someone who was not reasonably fit, had an aversion to some early rises or had no interest in the history and culture of the countries, pagodas, mausoleums, or temples. If that was the case, then they should probably not book this type of holiday in the first place.
I will certainly travel with Riviera again in the future.

I am sorry for sending this so late, but I must thank you all for a fantastic tour last November and, in particular the services of our guide Deborah who was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for her and her advice and tips were invaluable. Her experience and knowledge were obvious, she was calm and relaxed but game to have a go at anything and kept us on track and on time in a very gently, non bossy way. A perfect guide. In addition the trip went very smoothly considering how much we packed in and we have lovely memories of some amazing places and activities and some great people we met on the trip. I have been singing Riviera’s praises since we returned and would definitely go with you again. Many, many thanks.

Just a follow up with feed back from our last trip with you to say that all went well. We enjoyed the Hotels, Tours and Meals. Our tour representative Maggie and the tour guides were excellent and the trip was only marred by the manner of a few members of the party who arrived late for the tours with no explanation or apologies to Maggie or the remaining members of the party for their lateness, sad but beyond your control although Maggie addressed the situation. We thoroughly enjoyed the candid knowledge and life stories provided by your tour guides for each area. Each had unique personalities and stories to tell about their past certainly contributing to our enjoyment of each area. Please extend our best wishes to Maggie our Riviera tour leader.

Having just returned from the recent Vietnam and Cambodia trip, and our first organised tour, we would just like to say what a memorable holiday we have had. The 5 star hotels were truly outstanding, the tours varied and well planned, and the local guides added much to our knowledge of the area and their life in it. They also recommended good local restaurants, which for me, being gluten and wheat free was essential. I had also taken a Google translate translation, and had some wonderful meals with friends that we met in the group. We were fortunate enough to have a fantastic group of people and regarding other comments - the odd person being a few minutes late did nothing to mar our enjoyment . After all, we were on holiday, and a wonderful one at that. Thank you Riviera!

This is the first time we have been with Riviera but it will not be the last. Everything was so well organised. Our courier Tony was the best courier we have ever had. He was good humoured, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful and seemed to be prepared for anything that could happen. His local knowledge was wonderful and he made a fantastic trip even better. Our hotels were amazing. Clean, spacious with very helpful staff. Local guides were also good. It was so good that all our trips but one were included in the price - the last trip was well worth the small amount we paid. The trip home was a long one but we were given meal vouchers in Saigon to help pass the time until our flight to Gatwick. All in all a memorable trip and a very good advertisement for Riviera Travel and its staff.

We have recently returned from this wonderful trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our travels through Vietnam and Cambodia. Marthese was a marvellous tour organiser keeping all 38 of us well looked after and entertaining us with her references to “Happy loos” and by her own admission being a “crazy chic” ( a lovely “crazy chic”!!!!!!) . The local guides were very friendly and knowledgeable sometimes sharing their own poignant experiences. This was our first trip with Riviera but will definitely not be our last. Altogether a great holiday made even better by making some lovely new friends and sharing a few cocktails (you know who you are!!!!).

This was our second trip with Riviera and, yet again, they have delivered. A very well constructed trip with all of the major sights on the itinerary. In addition there were a few surprises that helped give a clearer understanding of this complex part of the world. It was very nice to see some of the countryside, especially when our local guides were so very helpful and knowledgeable. We were made to feel welcome everywhere. The accommodation was excellent, especially the Himawari Hotel in Phnom Penh, a real delight to have so much space at this stage in our trip. Alex, our Tour Manager, was excellent. He made intelligent minor modifications to the tour when the weather was unbearably hot, and treated us as adults at all times. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to wander about ourselves. So much better than many other companies. Much of what we saw will remain with us forever. A truly outstanding trip, and such good value.

We just returned from one of your tours to Vietnam and Cambodia and wanted to let you know that it was one of the most exciting, interesting and enjoyable holidays we have ever had. The country, the people and the history, - both ancient and modern - were fascinating and the visits were all superb. The hotels were of a very high quality of comfort and service including the swimming pools, which were very welcome given the heat. The food was very, very good wherever we went: both the meals organised by Rivera for the whole group and the those that we found for ourselves in local restaurants. We were constantly surprised and engaged by the itinerary and the quality of the guides was first class - five very different local guides who not only communicated information about what we were seeing, but also gave individual and personal viewpoints about the countries, the politics and the culture of an area that is and has been, and to an extent still is, in considerable turmoil. Our overall tour guide, Maggie, was extremely well organised, informative and approachable - we always felt in safe hands. This is our fourth tour with Riviera and all have been excellent for similar reasons. However, this surpassed all of them.

Dear Everyone at Riviera Travel I am very late emailing you with my thanks for a great holiday. Big big thanks firstly to all the Administrative staff who are superb. I travelled last year with your Company to India and was so delighted with your Company’s efficiency, organisation, staff courtesy & kindness last year ,I had no hesitation in booking with you again this year to Vietnam & Cambodia. Again I received the same superb service. Another huge thanks to Tony who was our tour guide this year . [He was the tour guide in India last year and was superb and amazing; efficient, organised, kind and courteous—fantastic.] Tony was also amazing again this year ;well organised efficient kind and courteous. Sometimes Companies ask me “how can we improve?†I believe Riviera is at the top of its class in everything it does. Keep doing what you are already doing . Best wishes to everyone and sincere thanks for my wonderful holidays.

My wife and I recently returned from a superb tour of Vietnam and Cambodia, and feel it necessary to pass on to you our very real appreciation of the work of the tour guide, Tony Oldham. The tour was quite densely packed and demanding (especially on the day to Angkor Wat and the other temple complexes), but throughout the 16 days Tony combined a charming and easy manner with a very well-informed and accessible fund of experience and personal knowledge which transformed the whole range of activity from simple ‘touring’ to insightful and fascinating sampling of the Vietnamese and Cambodian cultures.
It was not his or your fault that the stay in Seam Reap coincided with the Cambodian New Year and that the hotel seemed incapable of providing adequate staffing - especially at breakfasts.
This is not the first Riviera Tour we have experienced - but it is certainly the best ! And our enjoyment was almost all down to the professional and personal qualities which Tony Oldham brought to the whole enterprise. Thank you.

Just returned from a fantastic trip of Vietnam and Cambodia. Jam packed with great tours which we believe we could not have got the best from if it hadn’t been for the fantastic organisational skills and bubbly personality of our Tour Guide, Michelle and the local knowledge of all the local Tour Guides. We thought all the hotels offered fantastic quality facilities (especially the massages and so cheap!) and all the substantial buffet breakfasts included helped to start the day off! The locals cannot do enough for you, and what lovely people they are. Although all of the tours offered are so interesting and educational (especially the Cu Chi Tunnels (although I didn’t expect I would be firing an AK47!), one of the best trips for us was the optional excursion to the floating village and we will never forget the faces of the children coming up to the boat to get the small freebies we could offer to them from the hotel like shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and pencils! Strongly recommend anyone considering this trip to do it!

This was our first trip with Riviera Travel and it did not disappoint! Marthese was our tour manager and she was superb throughout, picking us up at Gatwick Airport and not parting until we returned to Gatwick. She was a very experienced manager and it showed as she made sure that we received the best treatment for the entire duration of the trip. This is a tour not to be missed, the places that we visited were an amazing mix and had we been making the trip on our own we would not have managed to see half of what was included. The local tour guides were all extremely knowledgeable and informative and brought to life the places that we visited. There is a lot to see on this trip and, as a result, it is exhausting at times ( particularly with the heat and humidity) but we wouldn’t have wanted to miss any of it. We made some great new friends and enjoyed cocktails in great venues - the Rex Hotel in Saigon and the Red Piano in Siem Riep being just two! We are already looking into our next trip with Riviera! Once again many thanks to Marthese and to our new friends - you know who you are! Mark and Mary

We have just returned from our first ever Riviera tour to Vietnam and Cambodia. It was superbly organised and we were brilliantly led by Deborah, along with local guides. We could never have seen so much had we tried to book it all ourselves. It was a truly amazing experience and one we will treasure for a very long time. There was no stress involved and we will certainly look to go on another tour. Thank you.

Our first holiday with Riviera Travel and we were certainly not disappointed. The whole Tour was professionally organised and led by our excellent Tour Guide Michele. Michele always went the extra mile to ensure all our party were well looked after and informed. She was constantly upbeat and added immensely to the success of the Tour from our point of view. The standard of the hotels we stayed at during our holiday were first rate and their air-conditioned comfort was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity of the weather we experienced. The local people in both countries were so welcoming and are presently relatively untouched by the influx of of western tourists.

This was an excellent and most interesting holiday. A lot of travelling by air because of the distances covered, but all flights were comfortable and generally punctual. Hotels were all excellent, with only the first one on our trip (the 5 star Melia in Hanoi) proving a partial disappointment due to a noisy disco reverberating through the building well into the small hours. The itinerary was well planned, with Halong Bay (Vietnam) and Angkor Wat (Cambodia) being some of the highlights. Particular mention must be made of our Tour Manager, Michele Cook. She was absolutely first class in every aspect of her job: knowledgeable, sympathetic, very organised, and nothing seemed to faze her; by far the best tour manager / guide we’ve ever had in all our extensive travels. Well done Riviera Travel and Michele!

We have just returned from our first (certainly not our last) Riviera Trip and it was everything we wanted and more. Deborah the Tour Manager was fantastic, organised and very knowledgeable and the people in our group were terrific. Vietnam and Cambodia is a very busy trip with something for everyone and includes almost everything you would like to see and do. If anyone is thinking of travelling to these countries this is an excellent choice.

You only have to read all the other comments, that are most positive about these beautiful countries; so I won’t repeat any of them to avoid repetition. Of special mention was Bob the tour guide who remained extremely polite when placed in some extremely ‘fraught’ customer relation situations. His patience and empathy towards everyone in a very diverse group was a pleasure to witness. My wife and I will certainly travel with Riviera again. In fact Frances is currently on the Jerusalem, Galilee and the Dead Sea trip!

We have just got back from the Vietnam and Cambodia tour, would just like to say how much we enjoyed the holiday. The only thing was we were not told we would be landing at Frankfurt on the way home, but that was no big deal. The fact that we were given water on the coach and raincoats when it rained were special touches we appreciated. You used to do a tour of South America, is there any chance of it being reinstated? Thanks again

I’ve been saving for this holiday for years, and it was absolutely worth the wait and every penny. Everything was perfect. Deborah, our tour manager, was fantastic, and looked after us all very well, I can not praise her enough. The hotels were amazing - we felt a bit too scruffy to be in some of them! The drivers and local guides were brilliant, in Vietnam it was so interesting to hear the history from different view points north and south, and in Cambodia our guides were both orphaned by the Khmer Rouge. The sightseeing was incredible and very well organised, and though there were a lot of flights and long coach journeys as expected, it was all very painless with plenty of interesting things to see. I could ramble forever about it, but highlights for me were Halong bay, the Mekong Delta trip, Cu Chi tunnels, and of course the temples at Angkor, that were so amazing I cried. I recommend this trip to everyone, and have already started saving for my next holiday with Riviera. Thank you so much.

This holiday was a real joy. We felt, at the end, that we had seen so much of both Vietnam and Cambodia and learned a lot about how the local people live. All the places visited were worthwhile and some, such as Halong Bay and the temples in Cambodia, absolutely stunning. The bustle of the cities, and the scooter traffic, was wonderful. The itinerary was full, exciting and, with visits to The Killing Fields in Cambodia, thought provoking. All hotels were good, some excellent and the included lunches very good. Our tour manager, Pauline, was first rate. She handled the group so well, provided all necessary information and was extremely well organised. We cannot praise her highly enough. She is a real asset for the company. An excellent holiday, we will certainly use Riviera again.

I have recently returned from my third holiday with Riviera, which lived up to the same expectation of the previous two. Every detail is taken care of and I was able to relax & enjoy myself with a very compatible group of 38 people. It was quite a strenuous holiday with early starts, moving on & 5 internal flights, but Alex took it all in his stride & was quietly efficient. The Hotels were all good and the inclusive lunches were much appreciated. Vietnam was interesting, but the mental scars of the war are all too evident. The best was saved until last and Cambodia was impressive with its wonderful temples & tranquil life in the country, especially the floating village. Thank you Riviera for a lovely holiday!

Have just returned from our trip and want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone involved in the organisation. It was flawless. This was our fourth trip with you but the longest and most complicated in terms of internal flights etc. and everything went like ‘a dream’. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, helped by the guide, Antonia, who was very efficient and friendly and a great bunch on the coach. We shall look forward to booking with you again.

Many thanks to Deborah for organising an excellent, well planned and maximum interest and activity tour. We enjoyed the visits and the well informed and prepared local knowledge given to us from the Tour Manager and the local guides. The hotels were excellent as was the seem-less travel between airports, hotels and the many, many places of interest we visited. The packed itinerary may benefit from maybe a rest day mid-way to allow us to catch up but other than that, a very interesting and rewarding tour including many fantastic sights, temples, historical war and genocides site, and lovely countryside. Many thanks.

This was our first holiday that featured the assistance of a guide. And were we delighted. From start to finish we were hosted by Bob Swain who proved to be a wonderful guide. He was very informative and knows Vietnam and Cambodia extremely well. He was ably assisted by local guides in all the places we visited. The two countries were enthralling and everything about trip was extremely well organised. Our hotels were excellent and the places we visited allowed us to get a real feel for the very different cultures that we encountered. Our group gelled very well and we made some new friends. In May we are travelling with Riviera to Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii and Naples. We are happy to put our trust in Riviera again after such a fab trip.

I have just returned from this tour,it was excellent! The itinerary, the hotels and the tour manager Tony, made it a truly memorable holiday.Thank you. The attention to detail and the little things that make something special were there. I will never forget the ricks haw ride round the centre on Hanoi when we first arrived, what an introduction to Vietnam! The Village tour, at the end of the tour leaves a lasting memory of Cambodia. That is not to forget all the amazing places we saw on our journey! One of the best holidays I have ever been on. Tony was obviously working away in the back ground sorting any hitches in a quiet and efficient way that made everything run smoothly.

Having just returned from a superb holiday-tour, we would have no hesitation in recommending Riviera. This was our first time with them and we were not surprised to learn that many on this tour had already travelled with Riviera several times. The tour was well planned and organised with a nice blend of sight-seeing and free-time. The hotels were all superb. The local guides were excellent and the drivers somehow got us safely through some amazing traffic in the cities. We would especially like to express our appreciation of Tony, our Tour Manager. He was calm, unflappable, very organised and knowledgeable about the countries, cultures and places we visited. He also went the extra mile in the evening by taking us to each city centre and showing those interested a range of establishments at which they might like to eat. All of this was very reassuring as each city we visited was totally unknown to us. We are now looking forward to receiving the Riviera brochure for 2016!

This was a very good tour, skilfully escorted and managed by Alex. The hotels were of a good standard, extremely comfortable and the food was excellent. Local guides were excellent, particularly Piseth who covered Siem Reap. The balance of the tour gives a broader view of Vietnam than of Cambodia, but the tour covers a lot of ground and the guides gave a good account of some of the background and context. My advice to people thinking of taking this tour is to do a bit of background reading, it’ll all make a lot more sense!
Review by Barbara Scott on 12 February 2015
This has been a truly wonderful trip, straddling the old and new in both countries as well as their more harrowing recent history. Each of the five cities in which we stayed had its own unique style, sights and sounds, with many different things to offer.
There were so many memorable highlights including: the delightful canoe ride along the Mekong; seeing Angkor Wat as the sun was rising and exploring the temples in the cool of the early morning; the rickshaw ride on arrival in Hanoi, which was a fantastic opportunity to see the old quarter and experience its impact on all the senses; the boat trip on Halong Bay which also included the visit to the breathtaking Heavenly Cave.
For us, the opportunity to learn so much more about the Vietnam War and Pol Pot’s reign of terror was a particularly special part of the tour. This was partly through the visits to Ho Chi Minh City’s War Remnants Museum and the Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh, as well as trips to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Killing Fields. However, hearing the stories of the impact on individuals and their families was especially moving, from talking to people we met as well as the information provided by the excellent local tour guides.
We also had a lot of fun - the lunches provided were superb and gave us chance to try a range of beautifully cooked local dishes in delightful settings. Evening cocktails were a great hit among everyone in the party and helped us all to bond, especially in happy hour! The local people were incredibly friendly and helpful and keen to try out their English.
We couldn’t have had a better tour guide than Pauline who stayed with us throughout the trip. She ensured everything ran like clockwork, provided us with lots of information and tips, and took all the hassle out of everything to maximise our enjoyment of our holiday. Pauline and the local guides we had complemented each other brilliantly, in making all the arrangements, providing us with plenty of interesting local information, and dealing with any problems that arose swiftly and effectively.
We hadn’t been with Riviera before, but will definitely be using them again after such a fantastic experience.

Having never been on an organised tour of any sort, we approached this with a degree of caution. We needn’t have been at all concerned. The overall organsiation was immaculate and all travel, bookings and admissions to places of interest were done with terrific efficiency, taking any strain out of the whole holiday. We came away entirely happy, having seen all of the main attractions as promised - and having been furnished with expert guidance and knowledge at all points. We would be quick to recommend this tour to anyone and, indeed, have already done so! Any testimonial, however, would be incomplete without a special mention for our tour manager, Michele. Not only did she carry out all of her duties with aplomb, she was on hand with knowledge and advice about anything from the lifestyle of the ancient emperors to the best places for ice cream and happy hours with city views. Well done, too, to the local guides whose comprehensive knowledge also enhanced the whole trip.
Review by Jon and Barbara on 21 February 2015
I can’t give enough praise to this experience. Pauline, our tour guide was excellent and seemed to have everything in control. All the local guides were very knowledgeable and their personal stories brought the recent past alive. I can’t thank them enough for changing my view of their countries. From the first hours of the tour out on the streets of Hanoi on the rickshaws to our last trip and visit to the floating village in Cambodia it was a holiday to remember. Highlights? difficult as everything was so good but the children of the floating village, visiting their school and the visit to Coconut Island will both stick in the memory. I also have to mention that the locals were very friendly and welcoming. Don’t miss this trip before it all becomes too commercialised.
Review by Barry Tupper on 27 February 2015
Fascinating journey through the history of these troubled countries. 6 flights, and 5 hotels in 2 weeks sounds daunting but Riviera made it both easy and enjoyable. Full marks to our experienced tour guide Pauline who never steered us wrong, and to the excellent local guides. Highlights included Cu Chi tunnels, Angkor Wat, and the War museum in Saigon. More harrowing but well worth seeing were the Killing Fields and the torture camp at S21 in Phnom Penh. Biggest surprise was how much fun downtown Siem Riep was, Night Markets and music bars. Unfortunately Halong Bay was completely misted over, but the cave was impressive. Thanks for your organisation which made this a most enjoyable and educational tour.

My wife and I were on your tour to Vietnam and Cambodia, 13-28 January. We had a wonderful experience and when friends ask which was the best part we have to say ‘everything’. On the one hand the sights and sites were incredible. On the other, the hotels and included meals and local guides were literally 5-star! We were especially pleased with Tony, our tour manager, who was both relaxed and very efficient. We will expect to use Riviera again and are recommending you to our friends and family.

The perfect escape from the British winter, yet neither too hot nor too cool at this time of year, and dry. The itinerary is an excellent blend of geography, history, culture, gastronomy and, in the ample free time, shopping or whatever other interests take your fancy. The tour was very well lead / managed by Martese whose clear instructions, careful guidance, useful advice and humour ensured that the group functioned with good time-keeping and consideration for others. Local guides gave valuable insights into daily life, family histories and culture as well as the essential hard tourist facts. Making the best of some items in the itinerary meant early rising on several occasions but we were well rewarded for doing so by avoiding the crowds and heat of the day and by seeing sights in wonderful morning light. Joining a tour is an ‘efficient’ way of being introduced to new countries painlessly. This trip was both relaxing and stimulating catering for a wide range of interests. We now feel the lure of other parts of Vietnam and Cambodia!

A big thank you from myself and my wife for a memorable trip to these beautiful countries. Despite the huge hardships being endured by the populace of both countries but particularly Cambodia we were shown nothing but kindness, great hospitality and lovely smiling faces everywhere we went. The whole trip went so smoothly which can only be down to assiduous preparation by your team. Thank you.
Of course Pauline Ryley was a gem to have looking after us. Nothing was too much trouble for her and her tireless work and preparation just showed what a professional organisation you are.
So thank you all very much and we look forward to travelling with Riviera again in the future. What do you do in South America?

We’ve recently returned from what can only be described as a fantastic tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. The itinerary suited us perfectly going to all the places that we really wanted to see including many historic sites and temples, mixed with visits to the Cu Chi tunnels and other war memorials. The choice of hotels was excellent and we ate some amazing food while we there. The whole experience is one that we’ll remember for a very long time . The culture, the history, the people, the food (and the scooters/mopeds) were all significant reasons for it being so successful for us. Martese our tour guide was completely on the ball, she organised, cajoled, informed and amused us all in equal quantity. The local tour guides were also exceptional with really good spoken English and also with an abundance of relevant and interesting facts and information. It was also good to hear personal family experience from many of the guides. Overall a really enjoyable tour. Well done Riviera and well done Martese.

Such an unforgetable tour made even more enjoyable by the meticulous attention to detail given by Debie. I cannot praise her enough. All the local guides we had were so knowledgable, but with a good sense of humour. The hotels were first class and beyond my expectations I have travelled with Riveria 4 times which speaks for itself but this was to a part of the world I didn’t know and certainly the most interesting. This fascinating trip was made even more memorable by our tour guide Lorenza, whose knowledge, kindness and infectious humour in even the most testing situation was remarkable. She showed great attention to detail and had excellent problem solving abilities on the rare occasion when difficulties arose.

Just wanted to say thank you to Riviera and especially to Lorenza our tour guide, who was absolutely superb during our holiday, guiding us effortlessly from place to place without a hiccup. I would like to say that we found the holiday exceptional value for money, the hotels and tours were all first class, to go it alone there is no way you could see and do the places we saw in a 2 week period. Thanks again for a memorable trip

We have just returned from our trim to Vietnam and Cambodia. We have been with Riviera Travel several times but I really must tell you that I cannot praise our tour guide, Michele, highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble and there wasn’t a day when she didn’t check that we had enough information, knew what was available, offered to book restaurants, organised extra trips, found out about local events (e.g. the water puppet show), made sure we had everything we needed and was all round great fun! Her knowledge of the places we visited was amazing and enhanced our visit. Many thanks Michele

We have recently returned from a tour of Vietnam and Cambodia - and what a trip! We loved the holiday, but of particular note was a day at the Mekong River Delta and going down the Cu Chi Tunnels. The highlight of the trip for us was spectacular Angkor Wat with its stunning Temples. Our local guides were very knowledgable and interesting, but our special thanks must go to our Tour Guide, Michele, who was endlessly kind and helpful, booking theatre tickets and restaurants on our behalf, and taking us to the best stalls to shop in the market! Michele was hugely informative and great fun. Apart from a few drizzly days in Hanoi, the weather was fabulous and I would really recommend this holiday.

An excellent holiday - really fantastic value and you see so much. Firstly our thanks to Lorenza our guide who had much to put up with on the holiday but was always smiling, totally professional and ALWAYS willing to go the extra mile. We love going on Riviera trips as you are looked after, have great local guides and never have to worry about checking in at airports or hotels etc. Out hotels in Vietnam and Cambodia were excellent and we chose Riviera over other tour companies because the quality of the hotels they used was clearly better than others. There were so many great moments on the trip - we might have only been there for two weeks but we certainly saw everything possible. The whole trip was the highlight - its too difficult to pick out one great moment/place as we had more than one every day of the holiday. As with other trips its the people on it that can make it even more enjoyable. There were some lovely people on the trip and its great to meet people from all parts of the UK - even Bolton!! I can honestly say that my wife and I have not a single complaint or moan about the whole trip. We will be going on a holiday with Riviera again - thanks again to Lorenza - her patience and stamina seem endless!!

Our hugely successful holiday to India last year persuaded us to book with Riviera again this year. Another major success! We certainly found it value for money with a excellent hotels, great itinerary and so much ground covered. We could not have achieved all this without Riviera and especially without Lorenza, our superb tour manager. Lorenza gets everything done seemingly without effort. She is amusing, interesting, very knowledgeable, and makes our holiday a great experience. We would describe it more as an adventure than a holiday! We were on the go the whole time but enjoyed every minute, seeing the most wonderful places which have been on our wish list for years. We were not disappointed and our photos are now helping us relive the memories. Thanks to all at Riviera, especially Lorenza

We have just returned from a fantastic tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Firstly our Tour Manager Marella worked extremely hard to make our trip run smoothly and that everything went according to plan and itinerary. Hanoi was an experience regarding the amount of traffic in the form on motorbikes. The boat trip around Halong bay was a peaceful experience. Next came Hue which is a wonderful city to explore, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) was steeped in history. Cambodia for us set itself apart in both cultural and sights to be enjoyed, we loved both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia has a totally different feel to it than Vietnam and the extra tour on a boat to the floating village was not to be missed. All the hotels on the tour were excellent as were the local guides who showed us around the various cities, and their local insight into the places to go and eat were greatly appreciated. This tour is highly recommended by us.

This was our second holiday with Riviera and it didn’t disappoint. The tour was busy but well organised and if you are travelling that far you don’t want to waste a moment. Marella was our tour manager and she was a calm, efficient member of the group. The tour guides in each area were excellent giving a personal insight to the town. We thought the recommendations of a few local restaurants was very useful, making sure we ate at places suitable to our delicate digestion! Water was available on all the coaches which was necessary in the humid climate, but saved everyone having to find somewhere to buy them. All the restaurants were of a good standard and welcoming. We enjoyed all the included lunches too The Floating village optional tour in Cambodia was a highlight and probably should be included. Thank you Riviera and Marella.

Having had a marvellous holiday with Riviera in India and Nepal we were excited to be going to Vietnam and Cambodia. We were not disappointed. The early mornings, heat and humidity were trying but the quality of the hotels softened the experience. The places we visited would have been hard to find on our own but with Pauline’s exceptional knowledge nothing was missed. All our local guides were very informative too. The back to back coach journey from Hanoi to Halong Bay was a trial but well worth the trouble. Our travel companions were marvellous and we have nothing but praise for Pauline. One comment I would like to make is that we would have benefited from everyone having name badges for a few days. Thank you Riviera.
Review by Colin & Janet Woodhouse on 10 April 2015
Having returned from Vietnam and Cambodia we can only echo the praise in previous reviews! It was the most wonderful trip with an excellent itinerary, and great hotels in both countries. So much was packed into two weeks! Pauline was a gem of a tour manager! We have travelled with Riviera before and will certainly do so again- our only problem is which tour to choose next!
Review by Alison and John Pope on 12 April 2015
This was an excellent tour, very well organised and with lovely accommodation. Be prepared for hot weather once you travel south from Hanoi but we did find that, eventually, we became used to it. Some of the excursions have early starts but this is definitely worth it to beat the heat and the crowds. It also means free time in the afternoon. I particularly liked our time in Cambodia and would love to return. I think that the trip was made all the better by having a knowledgable and friendly tour guide, Pauline Riley. Tips to others: Don’t pack too much, you’ll want to do a lot of shopping and it’s cheap! Take dollars, universally accepted in both counties and easier to work with Be prepared to tip guides and drivers to the tune of approx $5 to $10 a day. This is in no way compulsory but you will want to. You will not need to tip porters etc unless you specifically want to Every where feels very safe Hotels provide all the toiletries you need so don’t pack lots of these Other, optional trips will be offered but there is no pressure to take to part. A big thank you to all involved, a great holiday with great people, wish I was back there now!

This tour really did live up to its reputation. The organisation was superb, the selection of places to visit made for an extraordinary experience - not just a holiday, but a mind-changing visit to a different world. Beautiful places, beautiful people who’ve lived through terrible times, cities constantly teeming with activity, temples and palaces ancient and new, almost too much to take in in a mere 16 days. The hotels were all memorable, including one with its own brewery. Our tour guide Michele was well-informed, constantly upbeat and looked after the few casualties along the way (Nothing serious). She was the proverbial swan, calm and serene on the surface, but paddling away like mad under the water to keep everything running smoothly. Our local guides were superb including Lim in Cambodia whose experiences of life under the Khymer Rouge were truly terrifying. Usually when people say a holiday was an ‘experience’ they usually mean it was terrible. This was an experience in the best sense. Everyone should do it.
Review by Pete Barrett on 26 April 2015
The tour was everything we expected and more; a truly memorable experience. We cannot fault it and that is in no small measure due to our excellent tour guide, Michele. She was always on the go, making sure everything was in order and everyone happy often going well beyond the call of duty and always cheerful, upbeat and incredibly well-informed. A true gem. The tour itself was excellent, giving us a wonderful taste of the two countries, their history and life today. It was informative, interesting, a little hectic at times but always enjoyable and hotels were superb. We would definitely recommend this tour and will definitely book with Riviera again.

What a wonderful tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. It was everything we expected and more. The organisation of the tour was without fault and the expert knowledge of the Tour Manager, Bob, made finding places to eat and transition from place to place easy and stress free. Bob’s knowledge of the two countries enhanced that of the local guides. All the hotels were excellent in their different ways. We didn’t have one bad meal either at the hotels or in local restaurants. We weren’t quite prepared for the rain in Hue, but I think short of waterproof trousers and wellies I think we would have got very wet anyway. Weather improved drastically as we went further south. The crowning visit was to Angkor Wat and again Bob’s knowledge took us in by the back way thus avoiding the crowds and putting the sun behind us. I will be looking to Riviera for future tours.

In case our new friends on this trip wondered, we did make the Manchester flight from Heathrow by the skin of our teeth. A taxi from T4 to T5 at Heathrow making the connection just possible. I realise the bottom line is the Airlines schedules but I do wish it was possible to travel direct from the regional airports on the long haul instead of having to sort out all the difficulties of using Heathrow if you live in the regions. Emirates seem to manage flights direct to Dubai from the regions. Our trip was amazing, educating and very enjoyable. Our Tour Manager Bev Lewis was attentive, caring, well organised and humorous and was excellent. We have been on several tours like this with Riviera and other Companies and she was the best yet. The Tour itself was brilliant and was a great way of seeing and learning about the culture and history of the two Countries and we thoroughly enjoyed it in all it’s aspects.

We had a marvellous time from start to finish in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was a very well organised tour (our second with Riviera), excellent hotels throughout and a great group travelling with us. The local guides were very interesting and all had personal family tales to tell regarding the last 40 years. Pauline, our tour guide, was first rate. She always set out the detailed itinerary for the following day and nothing was too much trouble, including organising trips to the theatre. Our only suggestion is we would pay extra for a hotel in nearer the centre of Saigon (HCMC) so we could spend more time walking to city sights rather than taking a taxi around.

I have just returned from a trip of a lifetime to Vietnam & Cambodia & am still on a high. Thank you Riviera for the wonderful hotels & lunches & for the way the tour was organised. A tour is only as good as it’s manager & here Michele surpassed herself. Her local knowledge was imparted with sensitivity & no task was a problem- from arranging bookings to extra trips & always with such good humour. It was my first trip with Riviera but it won’t be my last & I hope I will have the good fortune to have Michele as manager. Finally as the only Irish person on the tour I want to thank everybody for making me feel so welcome. Sincerely. Joan

Thank you Riviera for a brilliant insight into the history and culture of two beautiful countries, where its people have overcome the terrible hardships of their recent past. The organisation was superb, as always. Riviera’s guides are always first class but Michele went the extra mile. The hotels were excellent, particularly the Angkor Miracle Resort who produced a lovely birthday cake for me on the last day! To those who have not yet been - experience this holiday for the people, the buildings and stunning natural scenery, the delicious food and a very different way of life, and don’t miss the opportunity to visit the farming communities and the floating villages of Tonle Sap.

We returned from our trip to Vietnam & Cambodia a few months ago and whilst I meant to write a review almost straight away I didn’t get round to it until now. The memory of this tour is still very strong; the sites and attractions, the wonderful hotels & lunches, the excellent organisation and the fond memory of Michele managing us with sensitivity, care and good humour. She was a star. This was an excellent tour and very well balanced (i.e amount of time spent traveling and sightseeing). It was not our first trip with Riviera having been with them to several European cities, but it was our first long haul. If this an example, then I look forward to more!!. Top Marks for the Riviera Team (and of course Michele).

Our tour manager Bev promised us an adventure not a holiday. What we got was a genuinely life-changing experience in a two-week tour that peered deep into the heart and soul of two fascinating countries. Our journey took us from the natural glory of Halong Bay to the man-made horror of the Killing Fields. From the Communist heart of Hanoi to the faded imperialistic glory of the temples of Siem Reap. We stayed in top hotels but brilliant Bev and her local guides made sure we got a real taste of local life. If you want your mind broadened by travel this is for you.
Review by Allan Rennie on 16 May 2015
This was our first tour with Riviera; we are already looking at the brochure for our next one! The itinerary was spot on, a busy tour but just enough “time off”.
Alex, our tour manager was brilliant! Calm and working in the background, gently guiding all 36 of us so that we didn’t feel managed but always felt well informed. We were also very impressed by the local tour guides with their personal thoughts and commentary. I was concerned about who would be travelling with us but everyone was lovely and we made a few firm friends.
The scenery was so diverse, the food excellent in the local cafes and restaurants, the hotels were lovely.
I wouldn’t have missed any part of the itinerary although I was particularly looking forward to Halong Bay and Angkor Wat; both lived up to their expectations! The optional trip on the last day to Tonle Sap floating village was fascinating and not to be missed!
Altogether a 5 star experience!

Although fairly well travelled, we have not done an ‘escorted tour’ in the past and were somewhat apprehensive. However, we have to say how delighted we were with all aspects of our recent trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The Tour Representative (Marthese) and all the local guides were all excellent, well informed, helpful and friendly. The transfers, transport and hotels were all very well organised and accommodation was well situated and very good. As an ex travel agent, I was very impressed by the organisation, from helpful, friendly and efficient booking staff onwards. We would certainly consider another ‘tour’ like this in the future and would very much like to receive your latest brochure(s).

My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our fortnight in these countries was a really interesting experience. We have very rarely used tour companies but are very glad that we chose Riviera. The organisation and service was impeccable from booking to farewell. Our tour manager, Alex, was outstanding: well-organised, knowledgeable and understanding. Riviera hit the right balance between providing structure to our days and giving us the time to explore for ourselves. The accommodation was high quality. Our local guides gave us honest insight into recent history. This is a fast moving holiday, taking in five major locations. These are both beautiful countries and apart from war damage, relatively uncontaminated by Western consumerism. The people are welcoming and generous. Go there now before Indochina becomes just another routine holiday destination.

We went on the wonderful Vietnam and Cambodia trip in March 2015. Our first time with Riviera whom we cannot recommend highly enough. The whole trip was superbly organised and ran like clockwork, a really good mix of history, site seeing and leisure time. Our tour guide Michelle was fabulous, upbeat and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, booking theatre tickets & restaurants, which made the trip so easy.
All the cities visited were wonderfully different, as were the hotels we stayed in which were all of a very high standard. We enjoyed all of the trips particularly the Mekong Delta boat trip to Coconut island and of course spectacular Angkor Wat, a truly magical place. Many others thoroughly enjoyed: the water puppet show, trip to the Municipal theatre, cyclo ride round old Hanoi, roof top bars in Saigon, Cu Chi tunnels, Halong bay, Imperial City, Siem Reap markets, temples, all the excellent included meals and of course the friendly locals ..... the list is endless. Even the harrowing history of S-21 Genocide Tuol Sleng museum prison and War Remnants museum were not to be missed and thought provoking.
The whole trip was an absolute adventure, it was full on, a great deal was packed into 2 weeks and we were very tired by the end, but it was all good fun, we certainly couldn’t have done it all without the great organisation of Riviera who took the stress out of all the travelling around.
Be prepared for: intense heat the further south you travel towards Cambodia, tipping of guides and coach drivers! Vietnam airlines possible lack of inflight entertainment as happened with us (down load some films/music just incase). You will also need LOTS of space in your luggage for all the lovely things will want to bring back.
Thank you Riviera, it was a truly fabulous holiday and one we would highly recommend, we will be back to do another.

We have just returned from your Vietnam & Cambodia tour, and what a great tour it was. It visited all the main places we wanted to visit. The tour rep Pauline was fantastic, organizing everything, there were no’ hic ups’, everything ran smoothly. She was friendly and proffesional at the same time, (she even joined in ‘dancing’ at the hotel with the guests). We didn’t get to see the floating village as the water level was too low, but Pauline arranged a ride on a buffalo cart through the countryside instead. That was a first for us! The hotels were lovely, the weather was hot (too hot some times) but we had a fantastic time. It was the first time we used Riviera but it wont be the last. Thank you for a great time.

Having returned a couple of weeks ago from your Vietnam & Cambodia tour we have 3 things to say -
Fantastic local agents & guides
But what really helped to make it the best holiday ever was Antonia the tour manager. Very organised, enthusiastic & passionate about a place she obviously enjoys showing people around. Thank you, we will be using Riviera again.

Having thoroughly enjoyed California and the Golden West in 2012, this our second Riviera tour was certainly no disappointment. We can’t believe we packed so much in to 15 days in these beautiful and fascinating countries. Five different hotels (four of which were very good 5* establishments) and five internal flights did make it tiring but we never felt rushed. We had some time to wander and found some lovely places to eat. A point of note for anyone planning to go – take Dong or US dollars for Vietnam and US dollars for Cambodia and preferably in small note denominations. Simon guided us well and generously shared his knowledge with the group of 34 or so travellers who also appreciated the four excellent local guides from Asian Trails. We loved hearing about the history, culture and way of life of the people and got a flavour of the politics of each country. The ubiquitous mopeds and scooters truly amazed us but we soon learned how to cross a road safely. Inevitably the glimpses we were given of the wars which have raged in Vietnam and Cambodia in the recent past were harrowing at times, but important to bear witness to. As for highlights, every day seems to offer a highlight and a multitude of photo opportunities. Personal favourites were Halong Bay, The Royal Palace at Phnom Penh, Tonle Sap, and of course the wonderful temples of Angkor. Memories of these and so much more will stay with us.

Our third Riviera holiday, so we are already converted. Enjoyable, efficiently organised, excellent accommodation in all hotels. Local guides spoke good English and were very informative, having themselves lived through the recent turbulent history of the countries. Marella, our tour organiser, was knowledgeable, helpful and managed to make everyone in the group feel special. Particularly enjoyed the rickshaw ride round old Hanoi, the trip to Halong Bay, with delicious lunch on the boat, the floating village in Cambodia and the temples of Angkor Wat.

Thanks to Riviera and our tour guide Alex for a wonderful trip. As others have said, Alex was a very knowledgeable, kind and considerate guide. He was a calming presence throughout. The local guides, all very good, added their personal stories, each with a different perspective.
The trip provided an astonishing variety of places and sights to see. Impossible to list them all but some of our favourites were: the cyclo ride through the old quarter of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, Halong Bay, Hai Van Pass to Hue, War Remnants Museum, Royal Palace, and of course the temple of Angkor Wat. In spite of this hectic schedule we were able to relax most evenings and enjoy the comforts of five star hotels. Riviera’s superb organisation meant that we never had to handle our luggage which was whisked away on arrival and deposited in our room.
Hotel staff, waiters, tuc tuc drivers and everyone else we met were cheerful and welcoming and contributed to our enjoyment of this wonderful trip. There was a long delay in our return flight but this was obviously outside the control of Riviera! We have already been describing the holiday to friends and would highly recommend it.

I returned last weekend from your Vietnam & Cambodia tour. This was my first experience of an escorted tour but wanted to thank you for such a brilliant time. The schedule is busy, but we saw many things in the time and did have a good time. It helped that it was a good group that got on and had a sense of humour. The hotels were first class and comfortable. I especially wanted to pass on my comments regarding Marella, our Guide. She was great and had the patience of a saint. We had one member of the party who didn’t like being told what to do, and obviously had some issues. She ensured that the rest of us weren’t impacted and that he was ok too. Most professional. I’ll definitely consider Riviera for future holidays.
