Frequently Asked Questions

Covid19 European River Cruises

What type of test will I need to take?

Covid testing is rapidly evolving and improving, so we will make use of the most appropriate type of test at the time that it is required.

What happends if I test positive when away on holiday?

In this scenario,  we have several procedures that we can implement and we will work closely with our in-resort teams and local authorities to ensure the required process is followed. Rest assured the Riviera Travel team both in resort and in the UK will be on-hand 24/7 to provide support. In the event that you are taken ill, your Riviera insurance policy would cover any additional costs for hotels, meals and travel arrangements. However, if your policy is not with Riviera you should check the details of your policy.

Will every passenger have had a test before boarding?

Yes, every passenger on board all our European river cruise ships and Adriatic yachts are required to provide a negative test before being allowed on board.

Will all the crew be tested?

Yes, the crew are all subject to a regular testing process.

How can I get a test?

Riviera will provide required tests free of charge for all European river cruise and Adriatic yacht customers at an appropriate timescale before you board the ship.

How much will the test cost?

Riviera will provide tests free of charge for all European river cruise and Adriatic yacht passengers.

How long before departure should I take the test?

This will depend on the types of test available at the time of your holiday and we will provide more details as soon as they are available.

How long will it take me to get the results?

This will depend on the types of test available at the time of your holiday and we will provide more details as soon as they are available

What happens if I receive a positive test result?

In the unlikely event that you receive a positive test, our Covid Cancellation policy means that you will be able to transfer your booking to an alternative cruise.

If a travelling companion tests positive, can I still travel?

If you live with your travelling companion, then you will need to complete any required self-isolation in line with government guidelines. However, our Covid Cancellation policy means that you will be able to transfer your booking to an alternative cruise.  If you do not live with your companion, and you are not required to self-isolate, you will be able to travel.

What's the point of the test if I am going to be sat on a flight/train with other people?

Testing is one of numerous measures that we are implementing to keep our holidays safe and enjoyable.  All flights and trains are required to implement comprehensive measures to ensure minimal risk, and this combined with in-resort social distancing and pre-holiday testing as required, ensures our customers can feel reassured and safe on holiday.

Will I have to take further tests on board?

Should you present with symptoms, a further test may be required.

I don't want to take a test, can I still travel?

Unfortunately, for the time being we are requiring all customers on our ships to take a test.  You may choose to book a cruise with us and if testing is still required but you would prefer not to take a test, you can amend to a later date free of charge up to 45 days prior to departure.
