California & the Golden West Tour
We had a wonderful holiday on this tour and our enjoyment was largely down to the excellent itinerary and our very competent guide and driver. Denise was well informed, always cheerful, and ensured that we always knew exactly where to go and what to do. She is clearly a very experienced and enthusiastic tour guide.
Our driver, James, was also excellent, competent and calm even when the road conditions were challenging.
All our hotels were of a good standard and added to our comfort and enjoyment.
All in all we have had a great holiday, lots of terrific memories to last a lifetime, so thank you very much.

Another great holiday with Riviera!

We have had a holiday of a lifetime thanks to our tour guide Richard and Larry the driver.
Richard is a credit to your company, truly extremely professional, very thorough. He gave us all such a vast amount of knowledge with a great sense of humour and made everyone feel special.
Larry gave us the safest, smoothest punctual journeys and worked so well with Richard.
We would recommend Riviera Travel, especially if all of your staff are as good as them,
Thanks again for a wonderful holiday

We have recently returned from our holiday in the Golden West. We are gradually recovering from both jet-lag and the full-on 2,500 miles of road travel, but all of this is totally worth it!
We would like to pass on our thanks to Richard who guided us expertly from place to place. He is an excellent guide- knowledgeable, patient, with a wry humour and tip-top organisational skills.
We would highly recommend Richard, this tour, and your company.

Fantastic holiday all the way through from the rep Chris, driver Clifton and all the other travellers. Helicopter over Grand Canyon only one of the highlights along with Karaoke which was an absolute hoot. Information given by Chris very informative lot of travelling but to see all the sights and places needed to be done. To all we travelled with thank you for making the holiday that little bit extra special

Just found time to mention our tour guide Marcus on the California & Golden West Holiday who was excellent and his knowledge and cheerfulness second to none. He needed this with our party of reprobates! Clifton the coach driver showed outstanding skills also. The tour although tiring with early starts was well worth the effort as we saw some wonderful sites with the National Parks my favourite.

Just returned from California and the Golden West Tour. We have had a wonderful time. This was due to excellent itinerary and the selection of hotels which were near the sights. The enjoyment was increased even more by the tour guide Marcus he was well prepared gave us plenty of information.
Extremely helpful went out of his way to make sure people could all the things they wanted. I am looking for another Riviera holiday after this one

We have just returned from your Golden West tour to California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada.
It was brilliant. Tour guide Marcus was excellent and driver Clifton was fantastic, so no problems there.
On the trip to Hollywood, we didn’t get to see any of the studios which was a shame and perhaps could be included in future tours but well done, a great holiday.

A special vote of thanks to our guide, Marcus Philpott. He was extremely helpful and added enormously to the pleasure we were able to derive from the tour. He had clearly prepared well for the trip and did his utmost to ensure that it was a success.

Just returned from a wonderful two week tour with excellent tour guide, Marcus, and super-driver, Clifton.
A brilliant holiday despite some early mornings and long days in the coach. We saw so many amazing places, the weather couldn’t have been better and we feel we have seen some of the world’s most incredible sights.
Thank you, Riviera, Marcus and Clifton!

We have just returned from our 5th Riviera Tour. California and the Golden West - What can we say - another thoroughly well organised, action packed tour. Every day was a contrast, from 92 degrees one day to snow the next. From the Pacific Ocean to the desert, from the canyons to San Francisco the list goes on. Great thanks to our tour guide Linda and driver Alan. The work behind the scenes to make a tour like this so enjoyable is unimaginable. Just one question = Which Riviera tour next?
Review by Martin and Penny Jones on 13 May 2016
Having previously tried several trips in Europe with Riviera all of which were excellent we decided to experience a trip much farther afield, and what an experience.
Linda our tour manager and Alan our driver both went the extra mile (excuse the pun) in order that the needs of the group were catered for. Her knowledge of each area we visited was extensive and always interesting and humorous.
The overall balance of vast expanses, scenic gorges and spectacular cities was in our view perfect. We recommend doing all the extra trips you can because all were excellent. We would also highly recommend a trip to Alcatraz which isn’t on the itinerary and needs to be booked online before you go as they are always very busy and make sure you do it on the free day.

Our first trip to the States, and it was wonderful! Richard was a star, with his patience, humour and knowledge. We would go again if there were a 3 week version, whereby we could spend more time in the places we visited.

Our guide was superb in her thoughtfulness and care on our recent tour of the West USA states. It was an excellent trip, with all the best of what the four states - Arizona, Utah, California and Nevada had to offer in the time, with good quality hotels. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. This was our first ever trip to The States, from the moment we landed, we were in good hands. Our tour manager was the perfect travelling companion, just like taking your big sister on holiday. Together with the coach driver, we never had a moments worry. There were long bouts of road travel in between the sights and the overnight hotel stops. This could have been boring, but our tour manager kept us all entertained, always well informed, with a ready wit and prepared for any eventuality. The sights are spectacular. We ran out of superlatives just trying to keep up with their grandeur. In one day, we flew in a helicopter over The Grand Canyon, and in the afternoon drove through Monument Valley in a dust storm. You can shoot me now; that was the greatest day of my life! The trips aren’t expensive. My advice is to just save up and GO! It’s the two weeks trip of a lifetime and there’s no where on Earth like it… Quite wonderful! Travelled on 21/05/2012

We arrived home yesterday from the Califorina & Golden West Holiday, what can we say… “A truly overwhelming experence! A holiday of a life time! It was Fantastic!”. Everything was Perfect, don’t think we would ever again go on a two week holiday sitting by the pool, relaxing, doing very little when you can go on a trip like the one we just finished. We must mention our tour guide, she was just fantastic and a fountain of knowledge of all the places we visited and of course our driver, what a man he could drive that big bus anywhere and his personallity was outstanding. I had not been on a tour by coach before so was not sure what to expect. However the coach was comfortable, the driver excellent, and the seat rotation policy appreciated. The hotels exceeded expectations, and not having to check in, check out or carry our own cases to and from the coach helped minimise stress. Our courier was very knowledgable and well organised, and ensured we didn’t miss the key sights either en-route or at any of the stunning locations. When we told friends where we had been and how much we had seen they were amazed. It is clear that Riviera have done their homework and used their experience to fine-tune the details of the tour and provide excellent value. Travelled on 17/10/2011

Out first trip with Riviera was a wonderful early October 2012 tour of California and the Golden West. Pre-warned about my wife’s walking difficulties they catered very well with excellent hotel facilities. Our tour guide was a very helpful and knowledgeable and our driver was always patient and cheerful. My only complaint was that there was never enough time at the frequent stops to enjoy the scenery. Our fellow passengers were friendly and helpful. Travelled on 01/10/2012

I was a member of the tour that ran in October 2012. First time to do a coach tour so not sure how I would find it all. However the coach was very comfortable so no worries there. It was a well organised tour with about the right length of time in each city, town and the reason I went - the beautiful parks. During the tour I did feel I wanted more time in some places but with hindsight, the timings were good. We had a very good guide and driver - indeed the driver provided me with a tin of ointment (Bag Balm) for my bites (no-one else was bitten) which worked well - beyond the call of duty. The weather was also unseasonable - it was 100F - just wonderful. Travelled on 01/10/2012

My review is for three holidays my wife and I have had with Riviera over the past three years. The first was Cambodia and Vietnam (May 2010), the second, India (Feb 2011), and then The Golden West of California (Oct 2012). All three trips were an absolute joy in every way - very well organised, highly informed Tour Managers, wonderful local guides and all very likeable. The mileage we covered in the allocated times was remarkable, the sites we visited were very well thought out, all in all good value for money. Riviera is the only holiday company we have travelled three times with, each trip so successful that we now give them first consideration for our next holidays. In April we are off to Myanmar. Thank you Riviera for wonderful tours.

It has taken two weeks to get over our holiday because there has been so much to take in. Now that we have had time to think about what we did we cannot believe it! The tour was well organised, well informed, fabulous locations, and hotels were a good standard. The tour Manager (who was English) was very well informed and made the tour very interesting and kept us all on schedule! The driver (who was American) was very obliging and very good at his job! The schedule was hectic but it had to be to cover the distances we did everyday. For all the places we visited and all the special sights we saw it was “Awesome” and very good value. A great holiday with lots of fantastic memories, well done Riviera! and well done Elaine (Tour Manager) and Richard (Coach Driver), they were a great team. We would certainly recommend your tour and will definitely use Riviera again.

My sister and I joined the Riviera Tour of the Golden West at Dublin. It was an amazing trip from the word go. Benita (our English Tour Guide) took such good care of all of us throughout, and Richard, our US Driver left us feeling very safe in his hands. A sense of humour was evident and the weather obliged. There was great camaraderie with everybody on the bus. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Zion, Monument Park, to name a few awesome natural places - then San Diego, Vegas and lastly San Francisco (lovely City). It was a hectic pace, well-organised with no glitches. I would go with Riviera again and recommend them to anybody interested in such a fab tour. My memories of this trip will stay with me forever.

This was certainly the trip of a lifetime! As a consequence, Riviera travel has already been recommended to many of our friends and we are already looking at booking another of their trips. We were so lucky to be in the safe hands of our excellent American tour manager, Fran, who never failed to amaze us with her humour, organisation, thoughtfulness and her incredible energy! Alongside her was Richard, our driver, who was at all times professional and courteous - they made a great pair. This was always going to be an exciting trip but it was beyond all expectations, as we moved seamlessly from one wonder to the next! It was worth every penny!

The tour was beyond our greatest expectations! Having traveled with Riviera to South Africa and India we knew we could trust them to provide a whistle stop tour of the vest best sights and sounds of this wide reaching area. The Grand Canyon and National Parks well documented and photos and literature are easy to find but nothing prepares you for the REAL experience. These wonders are beyond our human imagination and will provide everlasting memories. Our tour guide Michelle was superbly organised and very well informed and she kept us on track for what was a very tight schedule. Many of the numerous sights we visited were merely a taster - an appetiser for maybe longer trips in the future - the next adventure lies just around the corner! Thank you to Michelle and fellow travelers for helping to make it such fun!

I can honestly say that this tour was awesome! On a tour like this, there could occasionally be one or two things that were not perfect, but you put it all down to experience and forget. But this trip was so well organised that everything WAS perfect. The tour was quite intense in that we woke every morning at 6am to leave around 8am, and arrive at our next destination in the early evening, covering large distances in between. Clearly, this was the only way to reach and see such wonderful places and the excellent planning worked. Our tour guide, Fran was amazing, and being American herself she knew her country. She was always very concerned for our well being and gave out information that we needed in good time. If there was something she was slightly unsure of, then Richard, the coach driver filled in the gaps! They had a wonderful friendly banter going on between them which kept the whole coach amused when driving through the desert! The destinations of this tour were all amazing and the whole trip was unforgettable.

Super tour, excellently organised. A big thanks to Michele, our tour guide, who couldn’t have been better. Would certainly recommend it. One point; be prepared for cold as well as hot weather conditions, even though it’s pointed out in the literature it was overlooked by some of the group.

A thoroughly enjoyable tour, and one which we would be happy to recommend to anyone wanting to experience the thrill of visiting these amazing areas. No matter how many photographs/films you see of The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley etc., nothing prepares you for your first breathtaking sight of them. Both our guide (Michelle) and driver (Andy) undoubtedly made major contributions to our enjoyment of this trip. Hotels en route were fine. On the strength of our experience, we will be encouraged to consider Riviera Travel for future escorted tours. Tom & Sandra Gilchrist

This was our 6th trip with Riviera and they seem to get better every time! It was a long and busy journey but every moment was exciting and and at times awe-inspiring. Don’t miss the helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon or the 4x4 drive around Monument Valley and put your walking shoes on for San Diego, Las Vegas and San Francisco and walk every bit of it. Riviera holidays are always special because of the Tour Managers and this was no exception. Eddie the driver was careful and considerate and did everything to make us comfortable. Sam, our Manager was a joy: the facts and figures kept us all awake and his jokes made us start laughing even before he started to tell them. Thank you Sam.
Now, where shall we go next year?

Just wanted to say what an awesome tour this was in May, we saw so many amazing sights, the scenery was incredible!! We had originally planned to drive but we would never have seen half of what we did. Michelle our guide took us to all the best views for photos and gave us a wealth of information and suggestions of where to eat. This was our first tour, but we would definitely book with Riviera again. The hotel accommodation was of very good quality, and we loved the lodges in the National Parks.

Just returned from such an amazing, well organised trip. From start to finish, the service from Riviera was second to none. After arriving at Los Angeles we didn’t have to touch our luggage other than unpacking in our rooms. Checking a coach load of people into a hotel was so organised and never once we were waiting around. I can’t praise our tour manager, Sam and bus driver Richard, enough for their knowledge and hard work. The seat rotation worked well, everyone had the chance of great views. Don’t get me wrong, there were a lot of days on the road but we had plenty of coffee stops, photo opportunity’s and a choice of great restaurants. This trip is worth every penny! We met some great people, just a shame all good things come to an end. If anyone from our trip is reading this we hope you all had a safe journey home and was great to meet you all. Gem & Mark xx

The coach driver Andy and the tour guide Sue were a mine of information and dealt with every request passengers made to them. The age group are on the older side but this did not prevent any of them from being adventurous. The highlight for me was the Grand Canyon, awesome. We enjoyed an excellent trip with you to Africa several years ago and so felt confident in booking your Golden West Tour and we were not disappointed. We had the most fantastic trip and instead of it fading after a couple of weeks return we are still talking about it and reliving all the experiences we had. The Grand Canyon was overwhelming but we had expected that. We had never heard of Bryce Canyon and it was absolutely amazing. Monument Valley, Las Vegas, Yesomite, walking over the Golden Great Bridge whilst the America’s Cup played out below and of course riding the cable car- hanging on the outside! etc etc Too much to mention. A wonderful, courteous driver, a knowledgeable guide, excellent accommodation and good company on the bus. Wish we could do it all over again. Thank you for your excellent organisation and an unforgettable holiday. Saving for the next one!

We are just completing the Golden West tour and we have to thank everyone at Riviera for making it such a wonderful trip. Michelle our Tour Manager was fantastic. She was thoroughly organized and her knowledge of the sights and the history and background to places along the way made everything so interesting. Nothing was a bother for her and she kept the group in good humour all throughout the trip. A lot of the things she did were above and beyond the call of duty. Also Pat our driver needs a special mention as he drove us 2500 miles without a hitch and we felt totally safe with his driving at all times. It would be difficult to decide what was the highlight of this trip - so much mention out of 14 days and over 2500 miles of travel in such fantastic landscape and diverse environments - in the course of a single day, you can see the wonders of God in Zion National Park and later the wonders of Mammon in Las Vegas!!. Notwithstanding the government shut-down as politicians on the other side of the country wrangled about budgets “like children in the playground” (a description given by vox pops on the news programmes), we hardly missed a thing, thanks to the vigilance and ingenuity of our tour manager, Michelle Frost, and our driver, Pat. Having already done the tour over 30 times, Michelle knew the area so well, she was even able to tell the driver where to go on occasions! Her knowledge seemed to know no bounds and her helpful and ever available advice could not have been bettered. On a very personal note, given the choice of the helicopter ride or the chance to walk round some of the rim of the Grand Canyon, we would now prefer to have done the latter. Apart from the relative costs, we think a better perspective of the scale is obtained if you are actually on or in the Canyon, rather hundreds of feet above it. The few days to unwind in San Francisco was very welcome, where Cable Car and Golden Gate Bridge are compulsory attractions to be viewed! Biggest problem of the trip is how to organise the 1300 photographs taken!!! We have taken a number of the Riviera Travel tours now and have recommended the company to a number of friends. The quality of, and thought given to, the tours and their content is excellent and tour managers have always been to the same excellent standard as Michelle was on this occasion. The brochure has already been consulted on where to go next!!!!

Thank You Riviera and also Patricia our guide and Richard our driver. We were the first tour to arrive on the “shutdown” of the U.S and I must say you did us proud, the gesture of paying for us all to do the Helicopter Flight over the Grand Canyon was wonderful, and a fabulous experience. The holiday was not spoilt at all, Patricia and Richard worked so hard together to make sure we all had a good time, the knowledge they have between them is unbelievable, they made sure everything went as smooth as possible, and the other tours that weren’t on the itinerary like The Antelope Slot and lunch at Little Hollywood were wonderful. Yes it was disappointing not to be able to do things like Alcatraz and stopping in Yosemite but we did get to see both, and at the end of the day it was beyond your control, and I think in the circumstances you did a great job. At one of our overnight stops there was a coach of German tourists obviously having the same problems as us, their company had paid for them to go to the I Max to see the film of the Grand Canyon, $12 a seat!! So you really did us proud. I would not hesitate in booking future holidays with you, the holiday was a great experience, and all that we saw and did was wonderful.

The amount of amazing sights, sounds, cities and experiences on this fabulous vacation are many and varied, making it such a stunning adventure. Many thanks to our tour guide Patricia who kept an interesting running commentary during the journey, covering the geographical, mystical, historical and quirky aspects of each region; we so enjoyed her informed anecdotes too! This is a fantastic destination that is rich and diverse in content and excellent value for money.

My wife and I returned recently, 22/10, from the above holiday which your company ran with considerable difficulty and I felt that I must drop you a quick message to congratulate you and your team for surmounting the problems posed by extraordinary circumstances and providing us with one of our best ever holidays. We have used your company several times before and have been very satisfied, which frankly we expected, but this time, due to the problems, we felt we should let you how much we admired your performance. Although some of the solutions cost you money be assured that it was money well spent and has enhanced your already good reputation. Thank you.

Every day was spectacular and well planned making the distances covered enjoyable. Her knowledge of the areas allowed us to see such a fantastic array of sights supported by details and facts we would have never found as individual travelers. All of the hotels were different adding another dimension to the tour and the management of our bags made life easy. The synergy between the driver and tour manager was excellent adding even more value to everyone’s adventure. Having done 3 European tours with Riviera this was our first long haul tour. As always you seem to have got it just right. We are hoping that you might start touring other parts of the USA.

Our thanks to Sue our guide and Andy our driver for their superb service - both went out of their way to make the tour a very memorable holiday.

We have just returned from our first Riviera tour to the California & the Golden West. We have previously toured America and would like to congratulate Riviera for their organisation and information throughout our trip. Michelle’s knowledge was amazing and along with Greg our driver every day was an education and fun fun fun. We were given the best sights and hotels to enhance the wonders each day which made the 2648 miles a pleasure. We also have to mention the 49ers our team of passengers who added to delight of our trip. The excitement of moving nearer to the prime front seat each day was great fun. The only downside to the trip was the long flight home! We certainly will be travelling with Riviera again, Thanks.

A huge thank you - we had an amazing holiday; our dreams came true. We had a brilliant driver Fred who did everything to make our lives easy and a wonderful Tour Guide Denise who was very knowledgeable, thoughtful and full of local information to make the most of our trip. This was our first Tour and we loved every aspect of it; the mix of being guided to places and then the freedom of having time to explore on our own. We fell in love with California, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon - to name a few of the sights and will forever dream of San Francisco. Our thanks again to Riviera, and especially our thanks to Fred and Denise.

WOW, what a trip, packed with a multitude of ever changing sights and experiences. Riviera are a first class tour company offering a full to bursting itinerary, accommodation chosen expertly well, exceptional guides and safe courteous coach drivers. This, being our 3rd Tour with Riviera was by far the most exciting, our first visit to the States and one we will not forget (with over 1400 photos to remind us)! Thank you Denise our tour guide and Fred our driver for all your hard work.

California and the Golden West This was a fantastic holiday. It was action packed and all the fabulous locations of the US West Coast were visited. The tour manager, Michelle was excellent, very professional, very experienced, knew everything that needed to be known, seen and done, and with the patience of a saint! We had the same coach driver, Greg, throughout and he was excellent and very entertaining. Michelle and Greg as a team took all the hassle and risk out of the holiday and added huge value to it: things like the daily “bag pull” are so useful. There was a very good mix of people on the tour and we all got on very well together. Thank you so much, Michelle, Greg and Riviera Travel. We will certainly be using Riviera Travel again in the future, and we would recommend them to anyone.

Awaiting return flight to Heathrow and no better time to say what a wonderful tour we have just had, the memories of which will remain fresh for a long time. Great people and a great itinerary and even though we booked on the recommendation of previous travellers, it was even better than we imagined. Special mention must go to our guide B and our driver Carlos who provided the icing on the cake and were a great team. The vast experience of B shone through and she never let us down. As someone who is familiar with road craft and transportation issues, Carlos was a first class driver who put his passengers comfort/welfare at the top of his list and I cannot recommend his services too highly. Thanks again Riviera we will be back.

Fantastic trip and added by the great support of Bea our hardworking Tour Guide who gave us such wonderful information on our journeys through the west. We also had a true gentleman Carlos driving us safely, who worked so hard and was so friendly to us all. A good team. My daughters loved it all and so wanted to see these wonderful sites. Thank you Riviera for a lovely trip, which I will never forget…or the jet lag feeling after. Bea did warn me.

A very able and knowledgeable lady, Benita, chaperoned us for 15 days and 2500 miles, kept us informed, entertained and all together as a group. If we didn’t include two young ladies I suspect the average age of the group was over 60 years and she did not lose any of us! She was ably assisted by the most happiest coach driver that you could imagine. Well done Carlos and Bea you certainly added essential ingredients to an eyes widening, indescribable, gob-smacking scenic experience. Each one surpassing in grandeur, spectacle and beauty than the last. All your timings from start of the day through to comfort and meal stops were perfect and the hotels’ quality and Bea’s booking-in were especially slick. Thank you very, very much for a wonderful carefree holiday.

I enjoyed this tour four years ago in October and was fascinated to experience California and the Golden West in May. Our tour guide was Sam who was a fount of relevant, amusing and well presented information. He also had a good line in humorous stories as well as impressions of various Hollywood film and television notables. The hotels were of a fine standard with a generous supply of pillows and cushions. Coffee making facilities provided except in Las Vegas. Highly recommended. I could even go again in the fullness of time.
Review by geoff on 21 May 2014
Excellent tour. So many sights almost too stupendous to describe, but ‘awesome’ gets close! The pace was, as expected, ‘full-on’, ‘a tour not a holiday’ was how the Tour Manager described it. But because of that Riviera delivered a wonderful itinerary far better than many other operators. All arrangements worked perfectly, and having the cases delivered and taken away daily eased the burden of the hotel stops. The hotel rooms were first class. The additional Riviera tours were generally good (especially the 4wd through Monument Valley) but we booked our own choice of show at Las Vegas - there are many to choose from. The Tour Manager (Sam) was personable, very funny, very informative and very helpful indeed. The driver (Greg) gave us a very smooth and safe ride throughout our 2,500 miles. The coach was ‘luxury’ class and we had adequate comfort stops. Our fellow passengers (mainly 60-70-ish) were very friendly and informal. Of the destinations Monument, Bryce, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, San Francisco and San Diego came top for us, with Los Angeles and Las Vegas much less attractive, but at least we’ve seen them now. The only downside was the breakfast arrangements, whether offered in the package or not. We had a general feeling that the hotels or the areas were not geared up for our needs. Where the hotel provided breakfast (whether in the price or at additional cost) the breakfast areas were often over-crowded and offered limited choice. Notable exceptions were at Kayata and Oakhurst which were far more ‘civilised’. But heck, we didn’t go on the tour for the breakfasts! Overall this tour far exceeded our expectations - well done Riviera!

What a fantastic holiday!! We have seen the most amazing sights - Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley etc. and stayed in really lovely hotels. Our Tour Manager, Sam was great, he was so attentive and informative and our driver Greg was brilliant. This was our third holiday with Riviera and most certainly won’t be our last. The office staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you Riviera.

What an incredible trip - this certainly was the trip of a lifetime. We travelled approx. 3000 miles across 4 states (California, Arizona, Utah & Nevada) in the very capable hands of Fred, our driver, and discovered the secret of the FedEx arrow from Fran, our tour guide http://websitev6.dev/images/smileys/smile.gif. All our hotels were excellent, and although we clocked up a lot of travelling time, it was well punctuated with rest breaks that allowed sufficient time to admire the breath taking scenery of the National Parks, that surpassed our expectations - every day was different. Our fellow travellers were great, ranging in age from 20 to 70+, and several felt like old friends by the end of the tour. We have struggled to choose our favourite location - we loved them all - and highly recommend doing the jeep tour in Monument Valley and the Cowboy lunch at Kanab - hilarious http://websitev6.dev/images/smileys/smile.gif. We also visited Muir Woods & Sausalito on our last afternoon, and regretted not doing a morning visit to make our own way back from Sausalito by ferry, as we would have loved to have stayed longer. We were shattered on our return home, but it was well worth it. Our next Riviera tour is already booked and is unlikely to be the last.

We would like to thank Michelle Frost she was an excellent tour guide made us feel at home . Her knowledge of Califonia & the Golden West was excellent, could not fault her in any way or form, Michelle was kind & considerate. Nothing was to much trouble for her. If any of the 47 people on board our bus asked a question she always knew the answer. So once again we would like to thank Michelle for making our holiday worth while & if we book with Rivera Travel again we would like Michelle as our tour guide. Also the driver Richard was excellent nothing was to much trouble for him, Yours R & J Plumley

This tour was excellent, and full of highlights. It was the holiday of a lifetime. We visited so many interesting places. Fran and Fred looked after us well, and Fran was happy to translate American into English for us.
One particular unexpected highlight was the Crab Cakes restaurant which sell wine at half price on Wednesdays, so a decent bottle was only $13. We may go back to Old San Diego if we get the opportunity and spend more time there.
I also enjoyed acting in the Cowboy Lunch; I never expected to be doing that! The weather was perfect; not a drop of rain, yet not too hot. This tour is definitely recommended.

My partner and myself have recently returned from your California and the Golden West tour (2-15th May) and must write to let you know how much we enjoyed it. The itinerary was extensive and packed an incredible amount into the time available, but the whole experience was well worth it.
The tour guide (Sam Bartlett) was extremely good and the timing of his comments and information helped the longer journeys. We can forgive the terrible puns and (old) jokes - all delivered well! Also, our US driver, Greg, was so helpful and a good match for Sam with his tales. They seemed to make a good pairing, despite not having worked together before. All arrangements with the hotels and excursions were so well managed.
We would not have any hesitation in recommending the tour to anyone intending on visiting the area as it was so well put together. Thanks, Riviera!

We are writing to record our thanks to Sam as Tour Manager for the California & Golden West tour which commenced on 2/5/14. As a guide he was terrific, with the early morning jokes, the extremely various details of interest on route, crisp daily routines managed well and clear information provided throughout. For us he provided some special help that we want to be known about. Barry left his casual jacket in a hotel room (the mirror was a wardrobe door - something we will watch out for in future!) He arranged with the hotel to forward it in a parcel but, to cut a long story short, there was a delay with FedEx. There was consequently a major danger that the parcel would not arrive until after we left USA, having followed us around California. The jacket had our car keys in it. Sam took the task in hand, maintaining phone contact with an increasing variety of personalities . He even arranged a special delivery. The result was that the parcel was there for us on the last day. It might not have been, though! Sam was tracking progress and had to retrieve it from an office down the road because FedEx had wrongly delivered it at the final stage! This help meant a lot to us, and the outcome was successful. Many thanks, Sam. Barry & Madeleine Clark

A holiday of a lifetime. Wonderfully organised with a truly superb tour manager in Sue who consistently went the extra mile to ensure everyone had a fantastic experience. Great bunch of fellow travellers who gelled really well. Massively impressed with Riviera Travel (this is our second holiday with Riviera) and would not hesitate to holiday with them again. Very impressed with the way Riviera looked after one of our party when he was taken seriously ill. As for the tour itself, it is ‘full-on’ so be prepared for that - a lot of travelling, some early starts and so much to see and take in. Truly awesome, as our American cousins like to say.

A simply wonderful tour. Covering 2500 miles of spectacular scenery and sights, every day presented a new wonder. Richard, our guide, was excellent and the rest of the tour group were a pleasure to spend time with. Hotels were great, everything was well organised and each stop was a delight. Highlights for me were the helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon (worth every penny) and Yosemite. Mighty and breathtaking. Also enjoyed San Diego very much and Las Vegas was certainly an experience! I left my heart in San Francisco and the Napa Valley…

Had a fantastic time although it was very tiring, should have gone 20 years ago as my mobility isn’t what it was. The tour manager was fantastic, she seemed to know everything, she had a brilliant sense of humour and kept us entertained throughout. We all joined in the singing to the flowerpot men as we went into San Francisco. Nothing was too much trouble especially as I am disabled. San Francisco was a bit of a shock as it was freezing but my never to be forgotten moment was when Michelle said she was going down to pier 39 and if we wanted to meet in the lobby she would show us how to use the buses. I think she was was expecting about half a dozen people and over 40 of us turned up. (showing how popular she was) We all trooped to the bus stop and the bus came along, 1 couple got on and paid then Michelle got on saying to the driver that there was another 40 people. His expression was priceless!!! He shooed us all on without paying as to pay would make him late. If I knew when she was on a tour in the future I would make an effort to go on it. An excellent holiday.

What a trip, fabulous, amazing and whatever other superlatives you can think of. This was our second trip with Riviera the previous being in Europe and was of the high standard we expected. Nothing was too much trouble for Fran our Tour Leader and Fred our driver and they often went the extra mile as it were to make our holiday very special. They made a good team and the 3000 miles travelled although tiring at times (this from two 70+ travellers in a very varied group) gave us a wonderful insight into the many and breathtaking landscapes/parks in that part of the world . We especially liked San Diego and of course San Francisco was special although cold to start with. One of the main reasons in choosing this holiday was to visit the Grand Canyon and to do the helicopter ride and it did not disappoint but the other parks, all different, were also well worth visiting and we enjoyed them all. Well done Riviera, a well planned tour with comfortable stops/hotels etc. We hope to travel with you again.

Riviera tour California and the Golden West May 25 – June 8 2014 This tour took us to many very interesting and spectacular locations, both natural and man-made. We travelled in comfort over 2,600 miles, driven by the ever reliable and courteous Richard. Our wise and warm tour manager, Michelle, was always patient and attentive to the needs of the group; her well researched commentaries added greatly to our understanding and appreciation of the landscape and its people and their history. Her local knowledge and attention to detail in caring for her flock, made the tour’s demanding itinerary very carefree.

Thank you very much indeed for an excellent holiday in the U.S.A recently. Much of the success of this vacation was the outstanding service given by the tour guide Chris and we feel that our thanks should be forwarded to him on our behalf. Nothing was too much trouble for Chris and he worked day and night for all of us -and we were a large tour group! His knowledge of the country itself was comprehensive and informative - and his manner friendly and approachable. We are so impressed with Chris and the tour that we will be repeating this exceptional tour again in a few year’s time and we will consider ourselves most fortunate if Chris is our tour guide. Thanks must also go to Greg our coach driver who was always on time even in VERY hectic multi-lane traffic, numerous types of landscapes, from deserts to winding canyons. He is such an entertaining character too! Many, Many thanks for a brilliant time! Bill & Pat Mayall.

My wife and I have just returned from our tour of California and the Golden West and I felt I had to give you feedback. Over the years we have travelled with a variety of Tour companies yet I can honestly say the experience we had with Riviera was by far the best. Admittedly we paid more than we usually do, but value for money far exceeded the extra outlay. Our 14 day tour was crammed with memorable experiences, the highlights of Los Angeles, the awesome grandeur of the Grand and Bryce Canyons, Zion Canyon and Yosemite National Park, Not to mention the unmatchable brashness and opulence of Las Vegas, and then the delights of San Francisco. We anticipated wonderful scenery and eye-catching splendor before we set out but the reality surpassed what we had anticipated. All of this was superbly organised - good quality accommodation, high class, well air-conditioned coach and a varied itinerary. Though journeys were sometimes long, they were broken by regular (every 2 hours or so) “comfort stops” . Furthermore we would stop in places of interest - among desert sand dunes, large cacti, a Navajo Indian trading post, a 50’s style diner. Therefore you were always feeling that you were going to see something new and interesting. The coach driver, Fred, was excellent and our guide, Sue, the best we have ever had. They both deserve sincere commendations. Sue in particular never let a day pass without checking that all members of the group were happy and satisfied and was always available to offer advice and information. Superb. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Riviera Travel to any of our family and friends and we are already looking forwards to the publication of next year’s brochure. Thank you for a truly memorable holiday.

Your pre-flight planning and the detail that you put into your itineraries is excellent and adds to the enjoyment of our holidays. Your tour guide, Sue, went out of her way to ensure everyone was included where possible, and was able to benefit from her helpful advice. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.

Just to say another great Riviera trip. Like the Turkey and Capoddocia trip we did last year there are a lot of unavoidable miles on a bus but we cannot imagine any other way of seeing the sights we saw in the time available. To drive yourself would be exhausting and you would miss all the knowledge expertly applied by Michelle our guide and Greg the driver in making the trip so easy. For those worried about such things the bus was brand new and very comfortable and there are ample stops in interesting places on the way. As for the sights, every day saw we something new, and mostly spectacular too. The optional Monument Valley 4x4 tour was well worthwhile but with all the scenery, the occasional huge buffets, the friendly people, San Diego, San Francisco and even, and rather unexpectedly for us, Las Vegas there was so much to see and enjoy that to select any highlight amongst so many is difficult. Thanks again Riviera.

This was our second Riviera Tour having thoroughly enjoyed South Africa in Nov 2013. We have wanted to tour the National Parks on the west coast for some time and we certainly were not disappointed! Riviera has certainly put together an excellent package. Our guide Michelle and driver Greg were first class and made sure everything went to plan, even when the weather conspired against us. Everyone in our group was friendly and we were all still on speaking terms after a fantastic 2 weeks! Every day brought a new experience and we really enjoyed every minute. We will be recalling the wonderful sights and memories for many years to come! Time to start planning our next trip, with Riviera, naturally!

We have just returned from our first ever escorted tour and can say we had a brilliant holiday. Richard our tour guide was first class and Fred our driver got us safely round on our journey around some beautiful sights. Monument valley was the most important for me and it did not disappoint, but in all honesty all of the parks we visited were just amazing. The group we travelled with were very nice and everyone was keen to see what the next day held for us even when Richard announced another early call for the next morning!
The extra tours/trips we went on were very good. Monument Valley was fabulous, the Hoover dam was very interesting and the Rat Pack night in Las Vegas was a great night.
We have come home with some wonderful memories and would recommend Riviera Travel to anyone.

What a fantastic tour. So much to see. Richard and driver Fred ferried us around and kept us safe without losing anyone. Monument Valley was a highlight and San Diego became a favourite, the national parks were awesome. I must mention the Rat Pack Live night in Las Vegas, this was the funniest show I had seen in ages especially as my husband was ‘Marilyned’, this is one not to miss.

We have just returned from a fantastic tour superbly organised from start to finish by Denise our tour guide, ably assisted by driver George. I have been on several holidays with Riviera and enjoyed all of them but this tops them all. There is so much to see and it could have felt rushed with such a packed itinerary, but little details like arranging for luggage to be taken on and off the coach and checking in and out for everyone when moving hotels, comfortable air conditioned coach and regular comfort stops ensured you still felt like you were relaxing on holiday, despite covering the best part of 2500 miles. There was something to see every day, even those when we were mainly travelling, the highlights being Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yosemite, Bryce Canyon and San Francisco. Just the right amount of time in Las Vegas; enough to enjoy a couple of nights out with a rest day by the pool in between. Although there were optional extra trips which added to the cost, all were excellent and overall the holiday felt good value. A special mention for Denise, who must have had a lot of work to do to make sure everything ran smoothly. She ensured that it did, and this enabled us to sit back and enjoy everything we were seeing to the full without a moment being wasted. A wonderful holiday that will never be forgotten!

This was our second Riviera Tour having had the holiday of a lifetime in South Africa in Feb. 2013. Our confidence in Riviera was not misplaced as the logistics of this tour was organised with meticulous attention to detail. Tour manager Denise kept everything moving smoothly while delivering well- researched commentaries for all locations visited. Our driver George expertly navigated us through a complex itinerary although our only disappointment was that the coach was not permitted to drive the winding roads up to the Giant Redwoods at Yosemite, although an alternative optional tour to Muir Woods was available from San Francisco. Unfortunately our own booking of an excellent Alcatraz tour clashed with the Muir Wood option. Our highlight of the tour was the optional tour of Monument Valley with native Navajo guides. Overall Riviera has certainly put together an excellent package and will be highly recommended by me to all my friends.

This was our first time with Riviera travel and we just had to submit a testimonial to say what a wonderful time we had with Michelle our tour guide, who looked after our every need, nothing was too much trouble. And to Greg (Samuel l Jackson look a like),our driver who drove the 2765 miles without a hitch. The tour was so well organised, we could just relax and enjoy the marvelous scenery of the national parks, especially the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley which was jaw dropping. As for all the cities we visited, they were all very different and spectacular in their own way. To fit so much in to two weeks, a different destination nearly every day is a testament to the organizational skills of the Riviera team. We will definitely be touring with Riviera again!

This was our third tour with Riviera and we had a fantastic time. Right from the start the organization was second to none, from the helpful staff in the office to our wonderful tour manager Richard. The Canyons and National Parks were spectacular, as was our drive through desserts and huge cattle farms. The very special tour of Monument Valley with a real Navajo Indian, also called Richard, was fun, beautifully spiritual, with Navajo songs sung amongst the great rocks. When in San Francisco we enjoyed a lovely optional trip to Saualito and Muir woods and a boat trip to Alcatraz, both highly recommended.

Thank you Riviera for organising such an excellent tour! The itinerary ensured that every day we visited the most spectacular & interesting places, staying in comfortable hotels, every evening. The success of our trip was largely due to our Tour Manager - Michele, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Her knowledge, helpfulness, attention to detail and good humour were outstanding. Our driver, Greg, drove safely & expertly in a very comfortable coach. Regular stops at interesting places ensured that even the very long journeys necessary to cover the vast distances involved were never tedious. The additional tours we booked were all very good, but our helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon and the drive through Monument Valley with a Navajo Guide were particularly memorable. Each of us has been on Riviera holidays previously & would unhesitatingly recommend your company.

Having experienced a most excellent Riviera Tour of South Africa two years ago we thought that was it, nothing could equal the beauty, interest and variety of South Africa. We are pleased to say that our recent Tour of the Golden West was equally wonderful, all we had anticipated - and more. From the Hype of Los Angeles, Fish Suppers on San Diego Waterfront, Glitz of Las Vegas, a meal in St Mark’s Square to a free live Operetta in Italian, complete with passing Gondoliers in the Venetian Hotel, the incomparable Monument Valley with Native American Guides, Helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon and the impressive beauty of Bryce Canyon in early morning light. The Yosemite Park and finally the unforgettable San Francisco with Nineteenth Century Cable Cars and options to visit Alcatraz. Not a minute of the fortnight was wasted with memorable experiences brought together by our hard working and knowledgeable Tour Manager Sue. She was ably assisted by Fred our expert driver who added his own humour and contributions. What next?

We’ve been back a week and the photo’s & recollections of this wonderful holiday are vivid in our minds. Firstly, the administration was wonderfully handled by our tour manager B(Benita) who even handled a problem with seating at San Fran airport effectively & was a great, knowledgeable guide to the area. Fred, our driver was also excellent; a safe pair of hands. The sights were numerous, from the cities, LA, San Diego (great seaside city with a Latin American influence) & San Francisco - Alcatraz (wonderful, informative tour), Golden Gate Bridge (iconic) & Fisherman’s Wharf . Travelling around San Fran on the trams was historic & fascinating & the gradients in the roads made motor transport necessary!!
There was plenty of opportunity to experience the awesome nature of western America. Our helicopter ride over Grand Canyon will never be forgotten, Bryce & Zion Canyons allowed a walk & a chance to reflect on the grandeur of the scene below. Monument Valley & the Colorado ride enabling us to see the Hoover Dam from the base were fantastic.
We had a great crew on the coach, hotels were great, were looked after every step of the way & had a great driver. An excellent holiday indeed & we would highly recommend it!!

What a fantastic experience. The sights were wonderful, from the Grand Canyon to Yosemite, LA to Vegas and San Francisco; every day was more magnificent than the one before. The knowledge, experience and expertise of our Tour Manager, Be (Benita) and our excellent coach driver, Fred, ensured that the whole holiday went without a hitch - definitely the ‘A’ Team! The tours included in this holiday were a bonus as we have travelled with other companies in the past and had to pay extra for these. The optional tours were very well priced and offered good value for money (the Colorado river boat trip was second to none). Our thanks to all at Riviera Travel for a hassle-free, memorable holiday.

So to experience this trip was far and above what I had ever expected. I had told my son Ross about my trip with my husband, and hoped that this would be as good. It was more than that. I felt my husband was with me all the way, and to see the Grand Canyon, and to fly in the helicopter over it, and to watch my son’s expressions of joy and wonderment brought back all the wonderful moments again. The entire trip, from Los Angeles, down to San Diego, across to Phoenix and particularly the Canyon and Monument Valley, across to Bryce Canyon, Las Vegas and finally to San Francisco, was magical. As far as our tour manager was concerned, we could not have had a better one. Sue was an expert. She was also kind, attentive, full of knowledge of the sights and sounds. She went the extra mile with organising a wheel chair for myself for Las Vegas, as there is so much walking to do there; she was most attentive to the needs of another passenger who was, it seemed to the rest of the group, very demanding, and she remained calm throughout. Sue always made herself very available at all times once we were settled in each of the hotels we stayed in, and always, each and every day, asked every member of the group if everything was okay for them. Considering the amount of work she had to do behind the scenes, she never once let anybody down, no matter what their requirements were.
Thank you, Riviera, for organising such a wonderful and magical trip. The memories my son and I have taken away with us will remain as bright and fresh as the days we spent on that trip.

Brilliant tour - Riviera never fails to perform. Good to make some friends and we can’t make a comment without mentioning our tour manager Sue. She was amazing and is an asset to Riviera.

We have just returned from the California and Golden West holiday (17 Nov - 1 Dec 2014) which was absolutely out of this world. Having been to South Africa/Swaziland with Riviera, we did not think anything would be able to match up to this, but we have to say it certainly did. We saw so many things in 2 weeks and toured round 4 states (California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada) covering 2,520 miles (not to mention the mileage in the helicopter over the Grand Canyon! which was truly awesome). Our tour Guide, Sue, was marvellous. She looked after us all so well despite the fact that one cantankerous gentleman did his utmost to spoil everyone’s holiday by being very disagreeable about everything. He even complained about the weather and wanted compensation for everything including the 4x4 jeep in Monument Valley because he was cold even though Sue had arranged a transit bus for those who did not want to be in the open 4x4 jeep in the cold weather and advised us all to wrap up warm with lots of layers. Sue kept her calm and tended to his needs very patiently. The rest of the group were fabulous and we had lots of fun and laughs. Sue threw in lots of surprises which helped to make our holiday truly enjoyable and very exciting. A highly recommended holiday - we want to do it all over again minus the cantankerous gentleman! This was our fourth Riviera holiday and we will definitely be travelling Riviera again! Thank you Riviera and Sue.

We had an wonderful holiday, each day was full of amazing new sights and experiences. Temperature was around 20-25 degrees by the coast, but minus four with a freezing wind in Monument and Bryce. If you go this time of year take layers and gloves, just in case! Sue and driver George were excellent, very friendly and very knowledgeable. As others have said, we had one awkward passenger, but our group was great. Comfort stops were well planned - we were not normally travelling more than two hours at a time, and the places had good facilities. Riviera offered a wide range of optional excursions which were very reasonably priced - we had done our research beforehand and Riviera prices were good. Definitely would travel with Riviera again. Even considering this tour again at a different time of year to see more of the bits we couldn’t fit in!

We agree totally with the comments made above by Jane Kitchen and David Tranter, It was fabulous and more exciting than we ever imagined. Sue was a great Tour Manager/Guide and made it all the more pleasurable and well organised. We wondered if you do s similar trip on the Eastern side of America? New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Niagra Falls and back through Boston etc?

We’re recently back from your two weeks West Coast of America holiday, tour guide Sue Stone. A great holiday - it gave us a good general taste of what’s there, what we might like to revisit, what we need never see again, tho’ found fascinating! Sue worked tirelessly; she never seemed to be able to do enough for the group - honestly, one of the best tour guided we’ve ever come across. Should you be thinking of different holidays to offer, it occurred to me that, with an increasing number of fit, older folk around these days, still able to enjoy an active holiday, a trip that allowed more time for walking and trekking, with rather less miles of travelling and dipping only briefly into places might work well. In the meantime, thank for another good holiday!

We had a great time on our visit to the USA and were blessed with lovely sunny weather. In fact, reflecting back, this was one of our best holidays ever. Many thanks to Denise for efficiently and knowledgeably managing our visit and also to our coach driver, Victor, who conveyed us safely and with humour and patience over some 2500 miles. The days passed smoothly, with fascinating and beautiful scenery, stunning and dramatically differing cities. Each day was eagerly anticipated and the city locations contrasted well with our visits to the Canyons, Monument Valley and Yosemite. We met some good companions in our group and Americans met during our journey proved open, friendly and hospitable. For a two week escorted holiday packed with variety, interest and jaw dropping moments of beauty, it would we think be difficult to top this for the price.

This is a tour that has something for everyone. Like cities? Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Or landscape? how about Monument Valley the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon or Yosemite National Park? Culture and History? there is the Wild West and Sunset Boulevard, the Hoover and Glen Canyon Dams. Another well organized trip from Riviera with a knowledgeable tour guide, Fran and excellent driver Fred. Choose the optionals carefully. The Jeep Tour in Monument Valley with the Navajo is a must as was the Las Vegas show Mystere. And a word of Caution: this is a whirlwind tour with 2500 miles covered and I think 10 hotels in 14 nights.. but the accommodation was first class and the coach very roomy and comfortable… thank you Riviera, you have done it again!

With two and a half thousand miles, 9 hotels and an overnight flight over 15 days, this trip is not for the faint-hearted. Living out of a suitcase, early alarm calls and 8am starts takes it’s toll on everyone, young and not so young. The time allowed at each stop is never long enough to see everything you want to see but…... if I was asked which part I would remove to enable longer stops, I would say nowhere. Every sight you see, from the buzz of LA to the serenity of the Grand Canyon, from the lights and bustle of Las Vegas to the splendour of Bryce Canyon fills you with wonder and awe. Our driver, Fred, was courteous and careful and our courier, Fran, was knowledgeable and informative. Instead of bombarding us with facts and figures, she gave us the minimum of information about the various points of interest but then passed around leaflets, brochures and books for us to skim, scan, or, if required, borrow overnight depending on how much information each individual wanted to absorb. If she was asked a question she didn’t know the answer to she would find out as soon as she could get service on her phone. She dealt with problems (though we did not have many) quickly and quietly and, where possible, foresaw where the problems would arise and dealt with them in advance. She gave advice on where and what to eat as well as how to get around and what to look out for. The whole trip was memorable and enjoyable and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to see the sights of California.

This was our twelfth holiday with Riviera Travel and possibly the best yet! We were truly awe inspired by the magnificent scenery, charmed by the lovely people and cosseted by the hotels, plus the services of a superbly professional tour manager, Sue Stone. From the hustle and bustle of the Californian cities to the wide-open expanses of the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley, this is a holiday we will never forget. We were so lucky; we arrived to an earthquake in Los Angeles, arrived at the Grand Canyon in a thunderstorm, saw rain, sleet and snow at Bryce Canyon and experienced a dust storm (including tumbleweed) at monument Valley! What an experience!! Thanks, Riviera, you have done it again!!
Here’s to the next adventure…but, where next???

We have just returned from the above holiday with you, and wanted to say a big Thank you to you all for such an amazing tour. Our guide, Michelle Frost was so helpful, informative and kind to us all. We learnt so much about the cities, landscapes, history and much more from her, she was fantastic. Our coach driver, James was great, driving so many miles, and moving all the cases around. It was a holiday of a lifetime for us, and we did enjoy the Cities, and especially the Canyons, they were breathtaking. It is a very busy tour, with lots going on every day. The hotels were all good, and a good place to rest at the end of the day! Thank you.

We would like to say just how much we enjoyed our tour, which was made especially enjoyable by our tour manager, Richard Henderson, who was outstanding. We found he was extremely knowledgeable on all the places visited and his organisation of the group was excellent. We would also like to add our thanks to Alan, our driver, who did an admirable job. We were delighted with the fabulous Riviera Tour, this being our fifth. We enjoyed all the places visited, some more than others, and have no hesitation in recommending this tour to others. Kind regards Jim and Sylvia Grant

We have just returned from this great tour. It covered everything I wanted, especially Monument Valley. As a boy I always wanted to visit this valley and it lived up to expectations. Each day was a joy and the tour manager Chris Pook was very knowledgable, nothing was too much trouble for him. We handed over our baggage at Los Angeles and each evening it duly appeared in our room, next day it was collected and re appeared in our next hotel, great. I would certainly recommend this tour to any one.

This was our first tour with Riviera, and thought it was excellent. Very well organised from the time we left the departure lounge to our arrival back to Heathrow. Chris our Tour Manager was very informative without overloading us with too much information. Our driver Edgar was brilliant.
The hotels were very good, and the places we stopped at for lunch breaks etc very accommodating.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday, very full, but very relaxing too.
In fact we enjoyed so much have booked to do the Lake Garda, Venice and Verona tour in October.

This was our third, and longest, tour with Riviera. We were apprehensive about the amount of travel and hotel changes involved but, from day 1, everything was handled slickly with little effort by ourselves. Luggage was delivered and collected from rooms at each change of hotel. Our bus driver, apart from getting us to our destinations safely on time made sure that all luggage was accounted for at each stage. Chris, our guide, was very informative and entertaining making sure that we made the best of our time at each stop. Both Chris and Edgar, our driver, were good company and went that bit extra to ensure that our trip was informative and enjoyable. Hotels were all good and were well located for the tour. The tour itself was delightful, each city differed from and Las Vegas and San” Fran” had their own “wow” factor. The National Parks visited were different, entertaining and mind boggling. Well worth the cost and travel.

A tour to die for. From the start to the finish. Did not want it to end. SAM, our tour manager was the best guide you could hope to meet, his knowledge was second to none, along with ALAN our bus driver, they made it a trip of a lifetime. The places we saw and the people we met made it a great holiday, our fellow travelers were a great bunch all 31 of them. From LA to San Francisco and all in between SAM, went that extra mile to make our trip what it was, fantastic. First time with Riviera Travel, but won’t be our last, thanks again SAM

This was our first time with Riviera and we had the most amazing time. Our good humoured and friendly driver, Edgar drove us speedily and safely to each destination. He loaded and unloaded all our cases every day and nobody lost anything. We did not have to drag our luggage in and out of hotels. This was all done for us. Chris - our guide was a wealth of information and was very entertaining. The sights that we saw were unforgettable. All in all, a superbly organised tour albeit exhausting. Thank you.

Many thanks to our guide Sam and driver Allen for an excellent two week trip. Sam was the perfect tour guide: a mine of information and never short of a joke or an impersonation. Allen drove expertly and we always felt in safe hands. A lot was packed into this tour and, although tiring, every experience was memorable and not to be missed.

An amazing holiday which we shared with our friend and godson. We did the same trip six years ago and came back enthusing about it then. The holiday did not disappoint this time round either. In fact, we felt it was even better. It was well organised and led by Chris, an enthusiastic and proficient tour leader - he was knowledgeable and shared his enthusiasm with all of us. Well done Chris. And well done Riviera. We are looking forward to the next trip with you!

The amazing views of some of natures natural wonders of the world will stay with me for ever. Thank you.

This was our first organised coach tour, and with Riviera, and my family and I had a fantastic experience. We were nervous booking an organised tour with teenagers but we need not have worried. We had a varied mix of people and, as the days passed by, it was interesting to spend time talking to different people. The Canyons were breath-taking and each day brought new wonders. My personal favourite was Monument Valley - incredible jeep tour. Our lovely tour guide, Bea (Benita) was so informative and welcoming, and she never seemed to care that we asked so many questions, over and over. The cities were interesting and this was an incredible way to see so much of America. Three cheers to Greg, our comedian driver, who navigated through so many miles, with such ease - always making up time and getting us where we needed to be ahead of schedule. Although there were many hotel rooms and quite a few early mornings, we never tired of the trip and couldn’t wait to see what the next day had in store. Well done Riviera, we will definitely do this again. Also, amazing how our bags were taken and collected from our rooms each hotel, and no queues for room keys. It all went so smoothly.

What a wonderful tour! Our driver Greg was such a character and careful driver. Benita our guide was excellent. She was very informative and guided us to places we would not see if she didn’t have local knowledge. Lots of hotels all good with lots of early mornings! The sights were breath taking, words cannot describe the scenery. From the moment we walked onto the flight (we upgraded to premium economy, it was well worth it) to the end of the holiday we were relaxed happy and well satisfied. A lovely group of people on the tour with no hiccups! This was our 10th holiday with Riviera you do not disappoint and we look forward to our next holiday with you!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! for the tour guide, Fran just the kindness and most helpful ever Wow! for the driver Fred, just the best ever and helped my wife who has a walking disability on and off the coach at every single stop and Wow! for the tour, we saw the best of everything we could over the 15 days and Fran ensured everybody’s needs and requests were catered for, she simply couldn’t do enough.
On a note of balance and fairness i should mention that this feedback is intended also to balance any potential criticism that I fear may be made particularly in reference to the standard of the some of accommodation. It would be fair to say that the group represented a wide cross section of the population and the vast majority had nothing but compliments for Fran and Fred and all aspects of the tour. However, i suspect and fear that a very small number had an attitude that was going to be very difficult to please and no doubt in their own minds felt criticism was necessary. I cannot emphasize enough that the vast majority had an amazing tour and I only hope that all those who enjoyed write to you and express an opinion as well those inclined to offer any criticism.
Keep up the good work and there will plenty of people to enjoy and benefit from all your efforts

This tour was terrific from start to finish. The organisation of the whole tour was excellent from the moment we were picked up at Los Angeles airport to the departure from San Francisco. Our guide was personable, funny, so well informed and a pleasure to be with. Richard our driver was first class. The accommodation throughout the trip was very good and obviously well chosen. Despite the early starts and the long stints in the coach, there were frequent rest and photo stops and enough time to marvel at the places and sights that we visited. ( e.g. San Diego, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Yosemite National Park). The extra excursion trips were also excellent ( particularly the helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon, the 4x4 ride through Monument Valley and the canoe ride down the Colorado river) and added much to our overall experience. The group gelled well together; everyone got on with everyone else and we enjoyed plenty of laughs. Our understanding of the landscape and peoples who lived in the region surpassed our expectations and we heartedly recommend this tour. Our thoughts go out to Denise who damaged her arm in Las Vegas tripping over a kerb, but who did not let this jeopardise the trip’s organisation or our experiences in any way. Get well soon, Denise and well done to Riviera Travel!!

This was our first trip to America and first time with Riviera, but certainly won’t be the last. Fred our driver was safe, cheerful and courteous, always ensuring the luggage was delivered and collected from the rooms every day. Fran the tour manager was brilliant, providing loads of information on places on the tour and suggesting where to visit and eat. All the accommodation was clean and well equipped with hair dryers, irons, coffee makers, tv’s and often fridges. Although there were early starts and some long road trips, we never got bored of the scenery and there were plenty of interesting stops. The views were breathtaking at the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion and Yosemite and my favourite, the jeep tour of Monument Valley a truly magnificent and spiritual place. Contrast this with an eclectic mix of cities and you have a amazing tour. Travel with an open heart and an open mind and you will be captivated by this country and have memories that will last for ever.

We have just returned from our 7th Riviera holiday, this time to California and the Golden West. It was a wonderful tour taking in the awesome sights of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and Yosemite. We enjoyed perfect weather, hot and sunny, after just a few hours downpour in Los Angeles. We also took in the heady delights of San Diego, Las Vegas and San Francisco. We were lucky enough to have Fran Russell as our tour manager. She was efficient, informative and amusing. Being a local to the area she had an abundance of enthusiasm and knowledge, and we found her accent an ideal soundtrack to our time spent travelling between points of interest. We were also fortunate to have Art as our driver - always cheerful and willing to do all he could to make our holiday stress-free, handling the luggage most efficiently. Yes, there were early mornings and some long hours on the coach, but these were soon forgotten as each day’s delights unfolded. We found the hotels roomy and well chosen for location, and the whole route perfectly planned to give us maximum introduction to this wonderful part of the world. We could not believe that we had only been away for two weeks as so much had been packed into the time. Well done, Riviera, you did it again!

This was our second trip with Riviera and first time to the USA. This trip was truly amazing. A brilliant blend of natural scenery and amazing cities. The Grand Canyon was awesome and the day we were there it rained which resulted in a picturesque rainbow over the canyon. An amazing sight. We took a helicopter trip from Las Vegas which landed in the Grand Canyon, it was incredible and flew back over the Las Vegas strip after sunset. Unforgettable and the highlight of our holiday.
The whole tour was very interesting with jaw dropping sights. Monument Valley and the jeep tour with a Navajo guide was very interesting. The scenery was inspiring and colours of the rocks were incredible. There were some very early morning starts and on some days lots of miles covered but plenty of rest stops on the way. Hotels were very good and very comfortable. Our tour guide Linda and driver Alan were very good with a sense of humour and very helpful. All in all a fabulous tour. Thank you Riviera.

We have just returned from our fourth Riviera Tour to California and the Golden West and wanted to say how good the tour was. Despite early starts and some long journeys we enjoyed the variety of the tour. Richard, our tour guide was excellent and gave us lots of information about our venues. His timing was superb, giving us comfort and lunch stops at very appropriate times. His choice of lunch stops was good, especially in Kanab on a Sunday where the choice was limited as much was closed. The organised tours of Vegas, Monument Valley, Bryce, Zion and Yosemite were excellent too. Although there were not enough people to a show in Vegas, Richard took the trouble to find out what other shows May interest us. All the hotels had their own character and had the travel essentials of a clean bed and a good shower. They were also spacious and well equipped however the last Holiday Inn in San Francisco had the smallest rooms. Despite being on a bus route and within easy reach of Fisherman’s Wharf the area was less impressive at night, although there were good places at which to eat at a reasonable price. The helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon was the experience of a lifetime and the visit to Monument Valley was another exhilarating experience especially with the musical performance of the Navajo Indians. Well done Riviera. Another great tour with a superb guide and driver.

I have just returned from this wonderful tour the sights and sounds of which will remain with me for a very long time; my third holiday with Riviera and it did not disappoint. There was a lot of travelling by coach (about 2000 miles) but I always felt comfortable and safe and was never bored as there was always something of interest to see. The stopping points were judged well and everything was planned to maximise our comfort and maintain the anticipation of what was to come next.
The tour guide Richard (Henderson?) was superb. He was always full of enthusiasm and obviously had plenty of knowledge and expertise. He organised the group extremely well; gave advice on places to eat; gave information of all kinds and in different formats and generally enhanced the experience to an outstanding degree and all done with patience and a sense of humour.
The tour itself is a mixture of the grandeur and tranquillity of nature contrasted with the hustle and bustle of the cities. And there were lots of opportunities to go on further organised trips as well as having free time to explore. My particular favourites were the jeep ride in Monument Valley and the trip to the Hoover Dam.
I had never been to this part of the US and had many pre-conceived ideas about it gleaned from TV and films. But nothing prepared me for the realization that so much of this landscape is so beautiful. Colours and shapes have stunning clarity and I certainly want to see more if I can. The cities are vibrant and lively and people are very friendly and helpful.
A truly wonderful trip and my thanks to Richard and to Riviera.

What a fantastic trip! We travelled a long way and saw many and varied sights from the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas to the beauty and tranquillity of the National Parks. A jeep trip through Monument Valley was one of many highlights. A tour to be recommended.
Our tour manager, Richard, was amazing. His knowledge of the places we went to was extraordinary and nothing was too much trouble for him. On the days when we spent several hours in the coach, he always had interesting information to impart or DVDs to watch or even a fun quiz to complete.
A great trip with an approachable and knowledgeable tour manager.
