Deck Plan

Life on board is relaxed and cosy, and the dress code is laid-back and informal. This is not a typical cruise ship – the only evening ‘entertainment’ provided is fascinating lectures by the expedition team, from the flora and fauna they come upon each landing, to the culture and history of each place visited. You can also enjoy evening bar talks, in an informal setting where the experts talk about a topic followed by a Q&A session. There will always be a historian, a biologist or zoologist, a glaciologist or geologist and an ornithologist on board too, to share their expertise and passion with you. Whether you’re interested in the life cycle of penguins and seals, the history of whaling or the enthralling journeys of discovery by great polar explorers, through their unrivalled knowledge, you’ll enjoy a fascinating insight into this unique and extraordinary continent. Not only will you enjoy breath-taking landscapes and amazing wildlife, but you will also be enriched with a far deeper understanding of each location and everything you’ll see.

Settle into a comfortable armchair in the Shackleton lecture room on Deck 5 and take in the stunning views through floor to ceiling windows. One of the main meeting places on board, this is where our expedition leader and guides provide their daily informative briefings. Just next door, the Albatros Nordic bar lounge provides warm Nordic hospitality with comfortable seating and complimentary tea and coffee served all day and is the ideal place to relax after an unforgettable day and enjoy a drink with new-found friends. Daily afternoon tea is also served here with freshly made cakes. There’s also a small lending library with numerous fascinating books on Antarctica.

Dine in the attractive Beagle restaurant with tables for four or six and you are free to sit where you wish. The delicious meals are a mixture of buffet service for breakfast and lunch and table service for dinner. The day starts with an impressive breakfast spread, including fresh juices, a wide selection of freshly-baked breads (including gluten-free), Danish pastries, fruit, muesli and cereals, cold cuts, cheese, assorted yogurts, as well as porridge, eggs, bacon and sausages.

Lunch usually consists of an excellent and varied buffet selection, whilst for dinner there’s usually a choice of two soups and salads to start with, followed by a selection of three main courses (one is always a vegetarian option) and a choice of desserts, fruit, ice cream or cheese. There’s a fully stocked bar and extensive selection of wines and beers to accompany your meal too – and if you’re in the mood for something even more special, enjoy a meal in the panorama speciality restaurant on Deck 8 and dine whilst savouring the most memorable and spectacular sea views.

The Albatros BBQ deck and Midnight Sun Pool deck both have a large area of open deck space offering the best possible views in all directions and there’s also the viewing platform on Deck 9 for far reaching views. In addition, the ship offers a unique panoramic sauna, infinity pool, gym, the Polar spa, jacuzzi, Ocean boutique shop and medical clinic on board.
