I have taken the plunge and booked on the Marrakesh Solo Tour departing 30th March from Gatwick and staying overnight at the Premier Inn which says it is opposite the North terminal so hopefully just a short walk at 4.30am!. Have discovered that Morocco Dirham is a closed currency so cannot get any from the bank here but will exchange once there - hopefully the tour manager will help us all with doing that. Will GBP be best to exchange as I would like to have cash rather than use my card for purchases, other than the hotel extras at the end of the stay. With regard to injections, have had Hep A and the Tetanus, Polio & Diptheria booster at the local surgery - no charge. While a bit nervous as I havn't travelled on my own for a while, am looking forward to meeting all my fellow travellers and exploring the city with everyone. If anyone travelling from Gatwick or staying overnight would like to get in touch, it would be lovely to hear from you

Dear Marigold,

First of all welcome to Riviera, I hope you have a lovely trip with us and make some great friendships along the way. Though to be honest it looks like you're well-prepared already. With regards to your question about what money to take, GBP is fine as it's not worth exchanging pounds to dollars or euros over here and then exchanging again once you're over there, in effect paying twice for the same service.

If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

Erik.

Can I assume that my European plug adaptors will be compatible with the Marrakech wall sockets? Thanks.

Dear Poynton Traveller,

That is correct, your standard European plug adapter should work fine in Morocco as well.

The Lonely Planet pocket guide to Marrakesh is very useful and has information about plugs / sockets as well as lots of other things it is good to know.

Hi there - I just wanted to tell you that I have just come back from this holiday and it was wonderful! So much to see, eat, smell ... everything was good. If you have our 5 days of sunshine you will have a ball!
