For solo travelling - first decided the destination and plan a trip. then contact some local tour guide or get information from internet and start travelling.

I have just booked my first solo holiday, India and Shimla guided tour, April 2018, so excited to go and meet new people.

Hi Sharon...well you're braver than me! For the first time in more than 30 years I'm facing the prospect of not having someone to go on holiday with but I really want to see more of the world! :( I'm not so worried about meeting new people but whilst I'm retired, I feel I'm still relativly young (several years till I get my state pension) and so would like to travel with a group of a similar age to me. What were your concerns and how have you satisfied yourself before booking anything?

It's reassuring to know lots of people feel the same and it's not just me being a loon! I've travelled on my own in the UK but I've never dared go further without my friends. Yet there are destinations my girlfriends aren't so interested in and I want to grab opportunities whilst I can! I'm thinking of the Venice & Verona trip in May 2018. Is anyone else going on this trip?

Hi Lyn...lots of anxious solo travellers it seems! I'm considering classical Spain next year. I've been to Venice and Verona before and they're lovely but want to explore new places. Let me know if you take the plunge!
