For many, the appeal of a long haul tour is that you get to experience a vastly different culture from your own. The best way to do this is to tour each country by staying at a new hotel every few nights, to really dig deep into the history of each town or city. Sometime we may not stay in a hotel, but on the Rovos Rail in South Africa, or travel on the Rocky Mountaineer through Canada during the day, and staying in a hotel at night. There are so many travel options, and so much to see that we couldn't possibly stay in just one hotel!
