Enchanting Andalucía, blessed with plentiful sunshine, beautiful landscapes and a flamboyant zest for life, has for centuries seduced travellers and artists attempting to capture its essence. Unspoilt stretches of coast, evergreen woodlands and fertile plains meet staggering mountain ranges before fading into the brilliant blue of the Mediterranean Sea. Numerous ambitious civilisations have left a fascinating heritage: Roman remains, Moorish palaces and Gothic cathedrals are just some of the gems that pepper the sun-baked region.

We discover refreshed Málaga, which boasts a flourishing arts scene and food culture to match its complex history. Perhaps the jewel of the ‘coast of light’ is ancient Cádiz, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe with a rich maritime history. Of course, an Andalusian adventure would not be complete without a trip to its capital, Seville, the epitome of southern Spain. For a fitting finale we head to Portugal’s stunning Algarve region, where we stay in coastal Tavira, which delights with its whitewashed houses and colourful azulejo tiles.

In addition to guided city tours, we enjoy wonderful walks with specialist guides through extraordinary nature parks in Andalucía and along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Algarve coast.

Frequently Asked Questions

What walking equipment do I need?

Good quality walking shoes or boots are a must. We also recommend a waterproof jacket, comfortable rucksack, hat, sunglasses, sun cream, water bottle and clothes that can be layered easily. Hiking poles are not necessary, but you may wish to take them.

Who guides the walks?

Most of our walks are guided by accredited local professionals, who have intimate knowledge of the routes and can offer meaningful information about the history and nature of the area.

How difficult are the walks?

Our Walk & Discover holidays are designed to appeal to anyone who would typically enjoy an escorted tour but would like to incorporate a little more activity. There is almost always a choice of an easy or moderate option. While a reasonable level of fitness is recommended, the easy walk should suit most travellers.

We've put together a few graphs to help show the elevation of each of the walks on this tour, so that you can gauge how comfortably you'll be able to manage them. Click on a walk below to view the elevation.

What size is the average group?

On each walk we prefer an intimate atmosphere, so you can expect around 12 to 18 people. Depending on the nature of the walk, the group may occasionally be slightly larger. The wider group size will be around 40 people, mainly during coach transfers.

Will the routes always be as advertised?

While we will always try to adhere to the route as advertised, we may be required to modify the itinerary due to local conditions. Our guides may also make minor changes to tailor the walk to the group.
