Overview

Extraordinary and full of surprises, Iceland is an astounding natural and cultural destination. On our expedition of the ‘Land of Fire and Ice’, you can marvel at vast volcanic landscapes, lava fields and stunning fjords, feel the might of gushing waterfalls, and even cross the line into the Arctic Circle. During the summer months you will enjoy extra-long daylight hours. You’ll encounter teeming birdlife in captivating locations, learn about Norse culture, myths and legends, and relax with a soak in the Blue Lagoon.

In true expeditionary style, your captain and expedition team keep our itinerary flexible from days 4 to 10 as local conditions determine the best places to go, and what we do and see.

Your itinerary

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN REYKJAVÍK

Reykjavík

Arrive at the airport for your flight to Reykjavík. Upon arrival we transfer by coach to the four-star Hotel Centrum, where we stay for two nights, with breakfast. Situated on the city’s most ancient street, the hotel has been renovated in the style of early- 1900s Reykjavík, while underneath are the remains of a Viking longhouse.

DAY 2 - THE BLUE LAGOON

Blue Lagoon

We begin our day with an included visit to the Blue Lagoon, an otherworldly wonder set in the heart of a volcanic landscape. You may wish to experience this natural ‘spa’ with a dip in its mineral-rich seawater, which is heated to a constant 38 degrees Celsius. If the restorative powers of the cyan waters can’t tempt you, the pathway around the complex offers lovely views of the steamy lagoon and the surrounding black-lava field.

The afternoon is at leisure in Reykjavík. The world’s northernmost capital is compact yet filled with extraordinary art, rich culinary choices and a riveting history starring the infamous Vikings.
