What’s new for 2018

We’ve had some really exciting new developments for 2017 at Riviera Travel, including the launch of our dedicated solo tours, but we’re not sitting back and resting on our laurels. There are already fantastic plans in the pipeline to make next year even better. So if you’re looking to be inspired by a new tour or cruise, read on to discover what’s new at Riviera Travel for 2018.

Budapest to the Black Sea

15-day European River Cruise

Decebalus on the Danube statue, Romania

On this new river cruise we take you further along the Danube than ever before, from Budapest in Hungary, through Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania, all to way to the Black Sea. You’ll see many gems of Eastern Europe along the way, including Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade, the magnificent Iron Gates Gorge, pretty ‘little Paris’ Bucharest and the UNESCO World Heritage listed Danube Delta – plus much more. And, of course, a brand new cruise calls for a brand new ship, so you’ll be sailing on the all-suite, five star MS Thomas Hardy.

Amsterdam, Kinderdijk & the Dutch Bulbfields

8-day European River Cruise

This new Netherlands cruise has departures throughout April 2018 to enable guests to experience the vast bulb fields of Keukenhof at their brightest and best. Try to imagine seven million colourful blooms across a beautifully landscaped 80-acre park and you’ve got a glimpse of the floral splendour that’s in store! You’ll also see the authentic 18th century windmills at the step-back-in-time village of Kinderdijk and explore the scenic little town of Enkhuizen, as well as experiencing city life in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Worldwide Escorted Tour

Sossusvlei dune, Naukluft National Park, Namibia

We’re running one Namibia tour a month from March to November 2018, making experiencing this unique country a possibility, regardless of when you’d prefer to travel. Combining South African and German influences, exploring Namibia is a truly intriguing prospect, and this tour will take a looped route from capital city Windhoek. On the itinerary you’ll find a 4×4 trip across the russet-red Sossusvlei Dunes, a stop off at the largest Cape fur seal breeding colony in the world, a visit to a local tribe village and a safari drive through Etosha, Namibia’s most famous national park.

The Heart of India by Luxury Train

Worldwide Escorted Tour

With dates for late this year, then running through 2018, this incredible 11-day tour offers something extra special. You’ll be whisked through the heart of India in your own deluxe butler-served en-suite compartment of the Deccan Odyssey, a distinctive royal blue train that epitomises travelling in true grandeur. Along the way you’ll brave a tiger safari at Ranthambore National Park, marvel at the Taj Mahal, explore the ‘pink city’ of Jaipur and see the extraordinary rock-carved temples at Ellora Caves. Add busy city stays in Mumbai and Delhi and you’ve got a mesmerising tour that ticks off some of India’s most popular sights by luxury private train.

Solo Traveller Tours

We have arranged for two more of our popular escorted tours to be available for solo travellers: Jerusalem, Galilee & the Dead Sea and Vietnam & Cambodia. In addition to this we have been expertly crafting a new tour to Portugal – the Douro Valley to Lisbon – which will be exclusive to solo travellers. This tour will be available to book in May 2017 so keep an eye out on our website, and our Facebook and Twitter pages for more information.

Whether you’re considering making your first booking with Riviera Travel, or you’re looking to be inspired by something new, our exciting new cruises and tours are set to guarantee great holidays in 2018. Go to our website for our full product selection.

I have just returned from your Solo trip to Sri Lanka. It was brilliant. Caroline, our tour guide was super-efficient and caring. Ravi joined her as our Sri lankan tour guide and he added a wealth of knowledge about every aspect natural, historical and cultural. Only 17 solo travellers but everyone “gelled”. I wold recommend this trip to anyone. It’s a fascinating country.

This is my fourth trip with Riviera and I am looking forward to travelling with your company again in the future

Having returned from a Rhine cruise I have no hesitation in booking for next year. The trip on the William Shakespeare was fantastic!! The staff, the food and service, and Cassie the cruise director organized the shore trips perfectly. My wife and I are in the process of deciding on our next trip. The award recently won by Riviera was well deserved. Keep up the good work. A very happy customer. John, Mijas Costa Spain

Went on the solo holiday to South Africa in May . This holiday exceeded all my expectations. Our tour guide Karen was wonderful. she was always there for you and made you feel special and nothing was too much trouble.

. Warwick our South African tour guide was a wealth of knowledge on the history of S Africa – fascinating!

The hotels, the vast differences in scenery – it was amazing. My personal highlight was Kruger National Park. Everything about this holiday was top class – Would recommend this

We would thoroughly recommend the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Vancouver and Alaska holiday. The sightseeing bus trips in Canada were excellent and the two wonderful days on the Rocky Mountaineer in the Silver carriage certainly exceeded expectations. It would have been difficult to see so much without travelling with Riviera.

I think it all looks wonderful.
Do you have any holidays in Armenia?

    • Riviera Travel

      Hi Ursula,

Regrettably we don’t travel to Armenia, though I will pass your suggestion on to our Product Team, who put together new tours, for their consideration.

Went last month on Classical Italy Solo holiday. It was brilliant. Having been on 3 holidays with Riviera with my late husband, I knew it would be good but it exceeded my expectations. Tony, being Italian, was an excellent courier and the group quickly became friends. I have been looking forward to next year’s brochure in the hope that the choice of holidays would be bigger but have just read in your latest email that you are only adding 2 new tours. I hope that’s not the final number . Not wishing to return to places where memories of holidays with my husband would be too much to cope with, Italy was my only option this year .It proved an excellent choice but was hoping for more European destinations next year. Any chance?

      Hi Doris,

It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your holiday with us to Classical Italy! For 2018 we are adding four new European destinations to our Solo holiday collection – one of which, Portugal, is on sale now. The remaining three holidays will be revealed and will go on sale later in the Summer, so please keep an eye out. If you are subscribed to our emails I am sure you will receive an update.

We recently took a river cruise to The Netherlands primarily to visit the bulb fields/gardens (our first ever cruise of any description). What a fantastic holiday! The ship, crew, tour managers (information timely/interesting and with humour), food, excursions all great and not forgetting the cabin – loved it all!
We’ve been travelled with Riviera Tours 3 times – Classical Spain, Madrid and Croatia and now I’m going to spoilt for choice for the next holiday – such a dilemma.

We have recently had an excellent holiday in Sicily, with our fantastic tour manager Rosario. He looked after us from morning till night, giving us the benefit of his wealth of knowledge and his humour. All the arrangements were excellent, although we were disappointed with our first hotel, Kaos in Agrigento which was way below the standard of our second hotel.

This was the first time we had been on a Riviera holiday and will certainly be keen to go on another in the near future.

      Ah Rosario. Lovely chap.

Annette, you have taken the words out of our mouths. Rosario was brilliant for us, such a wealth of knowledge and excellent humour. The second hotel, Giardini Naxos, was superb, especially the food. The Kaos alas, was… well, poor. And that was five years ago.

It’s a few years since my last Sicily trip (though I plan to join the Western Sicily tour in 2018) but I must support Annette’s report on Rosario. He was fabulous in all departments, and incredible with his immediate solution to my medical supplies crisis. Would that there were more Rosarios!
